Luee

Luee
We adopted Luee from the Humane Society in 1996. He was 2 years old, but still a pup. He has slowed down a bit; his age is catching up to him. He is the best dog anyone could ever have. Luee had to be put to sleep on April 15, 2009. Rest in Peace Pup.

BEER HERE, GET YOUR BEER HERE

Hello Speakies,

Just read an article on Yahoo about beers that should be brought back.  Some of these are memories and some still available in the Sunshine State.

BALLANTINE - I had my first Ballantine when I was in the service.  A few of my barracks buddies went to the base bowling alley and there it was, only 3.2 beer but to me it was tasty.

STROH'S - Sorry never tried it.

PABST - Good old Pabst Blue Ribbon, still available at some places here, but no longer at the grocery store.

NATIONAL BOHEMIAN - Never heard of it.

OLYMPIA - Never saw this one on a shelf.

LONE STAR - Must be a Texan beer.

SCHLITZ - Another Trenton favorite, it was available here for times, but long gone now.

OLD MILWAUKEE - Still available in Florida or as my sons call it P--S Beer.

SCHAFFER - The one beer to have when you are having more than one.

There is one that Trenton, NJ is famous for "CHAMPALE."  This brew started in 1939 by the Metropolis Brewing Company, located on Lamberton and Lalor Streets.  When they brewed you smelled it.  My grandparents lived a few blocks away.

If any of you have a favorite beer not produced now, send me a comment.  Thanks.

One great novelty beer was "Old Frothingslosh" and each can had the debacles that "Miss Frothingslosh" would get into, like being tied to the tracks but derailing the train.

I still have a Ballantine serving tray. The only time I ever had a sip was from a cardboard quart they used for Sunday's while Mel Allen announced the Yankee games. "Don't forget the three ring sign and ask the man for Ballantine; beer and cream ale".

Canadian Ace was a great $1 a quart beer in my college days and was brewed in Hammonton NJ.

Champale? I took one sip once. Yech!

Olympia had the military contract and we had a machine in every barracks. For a soda you had to walk a mile but .25 cents would get you a cold "Oly".

skip, I knew a beer pro like you would respond. The "Old Frothingslosh does not ring a bell. Canadian Ace mus match Champale. We always ran out of soda in the barracks, had to run to the Flight Line Snack bar for one. The Flight Line had some great greasy burgers.

As usual thanks for your comments.

You can still get PBR at the local grocery stores. Don'y know why you would with some many other better choices, but hey!!!

My son, I went to Target and Publix, no PBR there.
