We always ran out of soda in the barracks, had to run to the Flight Line Snack bar for one. The only time I ever had a sip was from a cardboard quart they used for Sunday's while Mel Allen announced the Yankee games. "Don't forget the three ring sign and ask the man for Ballantine; beer and cream ale".<br /><br />Canadian Ace was a great $1 a quart beer in my college days and was brewed in Hammonton NJ.<br /><br />Champale? I took one sip once. Yech!<br /><br />Olympia had the military contract and we had a machine in every barracks.
