Good Morning Speakies,
This first paragraph is dedicated to my grandson Ian, a young Star Wars fan. Pop-Pop says, "May the Force be with You Always." Love you Ian and Grandmom Roe does too.
May is Pacific Heritage Month. It has always been a dream of mine to visit the South Pacific Islands. I read about Guadalcanal, Figi, Tahiti, Bora Bora and those other exotic islands. Maybe I saw the movie "South Pacific" too many times. The other day while waiting at the doctor's office there was a travel magazine and I could have spent hours reading the articles published about the Pacific Islands. It's a bucket wish but at times when I close my eyes, I see me in a hammock with a Pacific beauty serving me a Mai Tai. Dream on Joey Z.
May the 5th brought us to the first Major League Baseball's perfect game, pitched by Cy Young. Nice job Cy.
Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for the "Fifth of May") is a regional holiday in Mexico, primarily celebrated in the state of Puebla, with some limited recognition in other parts of Mexico. The holiday commemorates the Mexican army's defeat of the French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza Sequin. The most significant reason this battle was won would be the last time that an army from another continent invaded the Americas.
We also celebrated "Museum Lover's Day." I love to visit museums, there are a few in St. Augustine, FL which Roe and I had the pleasure to see. My son works at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota. I've never seen that one to date but hope to visit it soon if I'm not fishing with him first. When our sons were in grammar school we attended a bus trip to Washington, DC to visit all the sites. One day is not enough, I saw parts of the Smithsonian but I could have stayed there for days to catch the rest.
Have a great day, enjoy life and I will see you soon. Thanks for reading my Blog.

Wifey and I did Hawaii and found Kauai to be ideal and rented a remote beach cottage for cheaps during the OJ trial. Hawaii did have a few rough spots and all the "natives" are not very friendly in the outlying areas so be careful. We did tend to rent a car and wander off the beaten path. When I was in the military, I was stationed on Guam for a few years and it was great and still a bit primitive but the Japanese are back in full force now and tourism is high there. I loved the place. Now, I'd tend to take a cruise and hit Tahiti and some of those smaller places.
Hafa Dai! Skip
that's like Aloha in Chamorow (Guam speak) :)
Skipster: I thought you left the country. Glad you had a chance to visit Hawaii. Did not know about the true natives. I would not liked to visit Guadalcanal during WWII. I will take Bali Ha'i. from the movie South Pacific. I love certain musicals which Roe has her different ideas. Another one is The West Side Story. Glad you are okay, comment anytime.
