Hope you all had a great weekend and once again eager to start the new week. Zippy will be around in this last week in March and give you some of his famous Zip's Quips. BORN TODAY:
1133 - Henry II, King of England, one of the characters sung about by Herman's Hermit's, "I'M HENRY THE EIGHT, I AM." Sorry Henry you were only number two.
1872 - Vito Pardo - Italian Sculptor, had to mention the Italians for Roe. Love that name Vito.
1922 - Eileen Ford - Model agency boss.
1934 - Johnny Burnette - Singer "You're 16, Your Beautiful and You Are Mine." A song from the past to remember.
1942 - Aretha Franklin - All I can say is, "Miss Soul."
1976 - Monica Croscicka-Wnetrzak - Miss Poland and Miss Universe 1996. Yeah Baby, Go Poland.
UP OR DOWN IN THE CLOUDS TODAY:
1969 - Alan Mowbray - A fine actor on the silver screen in the 1930's and 1940's. If you watch Turner Movie Classics you will remember his face. If not, go to IMDB, the movie web and check out the various movies he played in.
1975 - King Faisal of Saudi Arabia is assassinated by his nephew. Keep your family closer Faisal.
STUFF FOR TODAY:
1863 - The first Army Medal of Honor is presented.
1896 - The modern day Olympics begin in Athens, Greece.
1945 - The US 1'st Army breaks-out of bridgehead near Remegan. There is a great World War II movie about this, check it out.
1951 - The Tony Awards are presented to Guys and Dolls and Rose Tattoo. Proud of you Guys and Dolls of my Website.
Enough of this stuff, let's talk food for today. Today is Lobster Newburg Day. I never ate that particular dish of lobster, but maybe one day I will. So Speakies have some tonight for dinner or take your Doll out and have a wonderful evening.
