GOOD MORNING SPEAKIES:
I KNOW THERE ARE MANY FAMILIES TRACING THEIR ROOTS AND FAMILY BACKGROUNDS WITH ALL THE AVAILABLE SITES TODAY. ONCE I USED ELLIS ISLAND RESEARCH AND WAS ONLY ABLE TO FIND MY GRANDMOTHER AT AGE 10 COMING FROM GERMANY VIA POLAND. I TRACED GRANDPOP Z AND HE ALSO ARRIVED THE SAME WAY. I LOOKED UP SO MANY Z FAMILIES AND MOST THEM SO UP IN THE MIDWEST, I GUESS MY Z'S WERE OUTCASTS. IF YOU ARE INTO THIS HAVE TONS OF FUN, BUT FOR ME, I'M DONE.
TODAY IS ALSO "LEIF ERIKSON DAY." LEIF WAS A NORSE EXPLORER, THE FIRST EUROPEAN TO LAND IN NORTH AMERICA. HIS LANDING WAS PROBABLY IN NOW WHAT IS KNOWN AS GREENLAND. RUMOR HAS IT THAT STASH ZABROWSKI, A POLISH SAILOR AND HIS CREW SET SAIL FROM THE GREAT PORT CITY OF ELBAG, POLAND WAY BEFORE OLD LEIF DID. STASH LANDED ON THE SHORES OF WHICH NOW IS SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NEW JERSEY AND BURIED A SECRET OF HOW TO MAKE SAUSAGE AND PEPPERS, ALONG WITH KIELBASA TO WHOM WOULD EVER DISCOVER IT. SORRY TO SAY THIS TREASURE CHEST WAS NEVER DISCOVERED. WE NOW GIVING CREDIT TO THE ITALIANS FOR THE SAUSAGE AND PEPPERS AND THE POLES FOR THE KIELBASA AND ALL THEIR OTHER GOODIES. AND THAT IS HISTORY, BULLSHIT OR NOT YOU DECIDE.
THERE ARE SO MANY FOOD HOLIDAYS CELEBRATED THIS MONTH, YOU KNOW THAT I WILL BE INCLUDING MY FAVORITES. TODAY WE CELEBRATE "THE PRETZEL." SO MANY VARIETIES TO CHOOSE FROM. WE HAVE THE PRETZEL STICKS, REGULAR THIN PRETZELS, PRETZEL NUGGETS, NUGGETS FILLED WITH CHEESE OR PEANUT BUTTER AND ONE OF MY FAVORITES GROWING UP WAS THE REISMANN STICK PRETZELS IN A BOX FOR 10 CENTS. I USE TO EAT TONS OF PRETZELS AT WORK, BEING THE JAR WAS RIGHT BY MY DESK FOR ALL TO ENJOY AND OF COURSE ME BEING NO EXCEPTION. HOWEVER, MY FAVORITE IS STILL THE SOFT PRETZEL WITH LOADS OF SPICY MUSTARD, WHICH I HAVE NOT HAD IN A LONG TIME. SO PRETZEL FREAKS, ENJOY THEM ALL YOU WANT THIS MONTH AND ANY TIME YOU LIKE. HAVE A GREAT DAY.
