Good Morning Speakies:
For all those football fans out there, I hope the team you cheered for was the winner last night. I only caught part of the game, as I was out fishing. Yesterday February 3, 1959, was a date in history called "When the Music Died." I was a young pup at the age of 11 and really did not appreciate the rock music until I was a little older. As I look back I remember enjoying the music of all three who died and I cannot forget mentioning the pilot of the plane that crashed in Clear Lake, Iowa early that morning. Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson. Their music lives on still, with great influences on the music of the 60's including today. R.I.P. you guys.
Today is "Popcorn Day", not one of my favorite snacks, I'm more of a potato chip, pretzel and nut fan. I need popcorn with loads of salt and butter and that is a no-no now. So you lovers out there of popcorn, go see a movie or buy the microwave kind and enjoy. Do they still make Jiffy Pop?
USO DAY - I was at the USO once when I was in the service and not many soldiers or airmen filled the room they enjoyed the beer joints more. The USO is still a great contribution to America's military in time of need and should to be honored today. For the WWII men this place meant a lot to them and kept their morale up. Keep it up USO.
HOMEMADE SOUP DAY - I have been through this before. Mom's homemade chicken soup, vegetable soup and her famous pea soup that had everything in it were my favorites. Pea
soup was Roe's favorite and she is sorry she never wrote down the recipe. Roe makes a great chicken soup and I heard the temps in Florida will be going down. Maybe a good week for soup! I have to mention, Granny made some great chicken soup also. When I really needed a soup fix, my favorite was Mrs. Grass chicken soup with that golden egg and noodles in that green box. Good Day for soup Guys and Dolls, enjoy.
Have a great day and a wonderful evening.
