HAPPY HALLOWEEN AND WEEKEND WISHES

It’s a Beautiful Morning Speakies:

Congrats to the Phillies for taking Game 1 of the World Series, no bragging to be done yet, it will be a tough series and I’m hoping for a Phillies win in Game 2 tonight. They played a great game and Cliff Lee was outstanding. I’ll be there in front of the tube tonight. Say another prayer today to St. Jude. Today we celebrate Internet Day. I’m taking the day off tomorrow need to do some work around the house and I’ll celebrate Internet Day on Friday. Let’s see what observances we celebrate for the rest of the weekend.

Friday, October 30:
Devil’s Night or Mischief Night – Toilet paper everywhere!
Haunted Refrigerator Night – That’s a new one, they are waiting to rob the warm.
National Candy Corn Day – Hate that candy.
Frankenstein Friday – A true holiday honoring Boris Karloff.

Saturday, October 31:
Halloween – Big Candy holiday for the kids.
National Carmel Apple Day – My favorite.
National Knock-Knock Jokes Day

Please enjoy the weekend whatever you do. Watch out for the little ones on Halloween night and report any crazies you may see. Safety comes first for the little gremlins. GO PHILLIES and to all my Guys and Dolls be careful out there. DON’T FORGET TO SET YOUR CLOCK BACK 1 HOUR ON SATURDAY NIGHT BEFORE YOU GO TO BED. DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDS.

BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME

Batter Up Speakies:

I never wrote much about baseball, I guess it’s because the Phillies are playing against the Yankees in the World Series starting tonight. I’m sure we all have memories about playing baseball, going to games or drifting off in that hammock dreaming of smacking that game winning homerun or pitching that no hitter. I have some fond memories of baseball myself. When I was a young JoeyZ we played sponge ball in the parking lot of a Food Fair after it closed for the day, too many houses around for hard ball. We bought the white sponge type balls at the local 5 & 10 cent store for 25 cents each and by the end of the game it no white cover left. We played everyday except for Saturday and Sunday. As the guys in the neighborhood got older we hiked down the road to a grass field and the hard balls came out for the real thing. When I belonged to the Boys Club we played Wiffle Ball and had set teams, one summer I had the homerun record. We even played handball, throw the ball in the air and bat it with your fist.

In the summer evenings I remember watching the Yankees play on Channel 11 from NYC. Red Barber, Mel Allen calling the play by play and all those Piels Brothers beer commercials in between. Watching the likes of Mickey, Roger, Yogi and the rest of the Yankees win and win. Most of all I remember my Dad and his friend along with his son going to those Saturday or Sunday games in Philadelphia. Driving down Roosevelt Blvd, heading to North Philly and walking to Connie Mack Stadium. To me it looked like the Roman Coliseum extending almost an entire city block. I saw the likes of Robin Roberts, Richie Ashburn, Curt Farrell and one of my favorites Chico Fernandez. I can still smell the grass and taste the steamed hotdogs. I remember the night we had tickets for a double header. It was the last 2 games of the season and Richie Ashburn beat out Roberto Clemente for the NL batting championship.

I remember seeing the joy in my son’s eyes as Roe and I took them to Veteran’s Stadium many a times for a baseball game. The proud and fond memories of seeing them play little league ball. Baseball makes some dreams come true, but for most of us it brings us great memories of times we really enjoyed. Send me your feelings or just sit back and recall your memories and share them with someone close.

THE GOOB AND THE BIBLE

Good Afternoon Guys and Dolls:

Two interesting stories off the local news here in Central Florida. The first one is out of our great capital city of Tallahassee. Our great goobenor Charlie Crist was sooooo busy he didn’t know President Obama was in Florida Monday and Tuesday. Governor Do Nothing has been so busy lately with his U.S. Senate Race and all those chief executive duties on his desk, I guess he simply forgot. To quote the governor, “Where was he yesterday?” Crist said, “First I’ve known of it.” Charlie come on, you have to follow the Washington news if you are planning to play with the big boys. After all Charlie you took that stimulus money, but since you decided to run for the U.S. Senate I guess you’ll be just like the rest of your Republican buddies, criticize, criticize and keep doing nothing for this state and its people.

The second story is out of Okeechobee, Florida. A young man (Trevor) said he was fired from his cashier’s job at The Home Depot because he wore an American flag button that read, “One Nation under God, indivisible.” He was wearing the button for 19 months in his support of the American troops; it was never an issue until he started showing up with a Bible at work. The Home Depot said it has a strict dress code and does not allow outside material to be worn. Home Depot you should have told young Mr. Trevor about the policy when he started wearing the button. Now Trevor, the Bible is a little too much. If you want to bring your Bible, leave it in the car and read it lunch time. The work place and pushing religion does not mix well, there are always conflicts. Keep religion in your car, at home or at your church. I can truly say this is a battle of Corporate America versus Bible belt beliefs. Good Luck to all.

Strictly the views of JoeyZ.

WORLD SERIES AND HAPPY HUMP DAY

Happy Hump Day Speakies:

The World Series starts tonight at 7:30 from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. I’m hoping those Phillies can grab Game 1. According to the press the Phils are the underdogs in the series. We have a good sign working for us for today is St. Jude’s Day. The Armenian Apostolic Church honors St. Jude along with Saint Bartholomew as its patron saints. In the Roman Catholic Church he is the patron saint of desperate cases and lost causes. So come on Phillies and sweep them Yankees in New York.

We also celebrate National Chocolates Day. So all you chocolate lovers out there hit the candy stores and enjoy. I’m still looking for those old time watermelon slices, the ones with the coconut favor on the outside, not the jelly type. If any of my Guys and Dolls has a name of a place to check for them, let me know, submit a comment. I will probably be back later with some more news or birthdays etc. Have a great day, be careful out there and respect each other.

A PARTY CRAZY LIVES

Good Afternoon Speakies:

No violent act for this crazy but a funny incident instead occurring on the Florida Turnpike. A tour bus driver called authorities after a female passenger began removing her clothes while putting on a strip show for the others aboard. Seems this group of passengers were returning from a Budweiser Cruise on a tour bus. The poor driver thought the situation could get ugly so he contacted the authorities. State troopers arrived, gave a verbal warning and no arrests were made. The final destination of the bus not made public. My personal guess about the female stripper is she probably had more beers than teeth.

GO AHEAD AND BE CRANKY

Good Morning Guys and Dolls:

A Happy Tuesday to all. We have a great holiday to celebrate today, “Cranky Co-Workers Day.” You can bet I’m going to be cranky all day long, making life miserable for all my co-workers. I’m going to get cranking at NASA right now. This morning at Cape Canaveral the NASA big wigs are awaiting the launch of the Aries IX Rocket. Hoping for a 3 minute ride and costing the American public $400 million, NASA is looking to save their butts. We can use that money for healthcare and the needs of the American people who have been out of work and are struggling everyday. This rocket project has cost American taxpayers according to the local news $7 Billion so far. I told you before the aliens out there don’t want us near them given our track record on earth. I’ll be back later and crankier. Have a nice day Speakies.

OPPS WRONG STORE

Speakies:

Meet Ronnie from Pasco County, Florida, "The Undie Burglar." Deputies were responding to a burglary alarm Sunday morning and found Ronnie hiding in the attic of a pharmacy dressed only in his underwear. Why Ronnie was only in his undies and in the attic of a drug store, God only knows. Maybe Ronnie thought he was in a men's shop hoping to pick up a new wardrobe. Anyway he was arrested and charged with the crime of burglary. Ronnie will be receiving some new duds except they will be all one style, a nice bright orange jump suit.

I'm sure we will have more crazies to report on as the week goes by. History lesson is coming later today.

OH NO IT'S MONDAY AGAIN

Happy Monday Speakies:

Oh well it may not be the happiest day of the week, but if you are reading this you are alive and can be happy about that. Well it will be those Yankees versus the Phillies in the World Series starting Wednesday night. Here’s hoping the best for my Phillies. I had a visitor from Italy stop by at JoeyZ’s, thanks for checking out the site paison.

Checking into my daily observance bag, today we celebrate:
Worldwide Howl at the Moon Night – I suggest we all drink a little tonic after dinner, let the hair grow like Wolfman and get outdoors and howl around midnight.
Mule Day – Our little bag carrying friends get the day off.

I’ll be checking the local news for any Florida Crazies on the loose, maybe a little JoeyZ history lesson. See you later, have a great day and be careful out there.

FOUND AN OLD FRIEND AND SIGNING OFF

Guys and Dolls:

Nothing of great importance to report here in Florida this afternoon. The weather is getting a bit warmer and we will be near the 90 degree mark once again. I located another old friend, one of the "Beatty Street Boys" name Richard, through a tip from my cousin Tom on Facebook. Maybe we all can have a reunion one day. That would be nice.

Just wanted to stop by once again and say "HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND."

WEEKEND WISHES

Good Day Speakies:

Well Friday is here and the weekend is but a few hours away. Caught part of the Yankee game last night, but fell asleep and decided to hit LaLa Land early. Roe watched the game hoping for a Yankee win with them playing our Phillies in the World Series but no luck last night. Personally I just want to see the Phillies win the series.

I had a visitor to my blog from Bulgaria, welcome friend, stop by any time. I may return later with any news I find, but for right now I just want to wish you all a wonderful and safe weekend. Have fun whatever you do.

Sad to report the death of Soupy Sales, one crazy and funny guy. I watched his show and let me tell you it was not geared for the little ones. Check out You Tube for some funny clips. Rest in Peace Soupy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. HORWITZ

Guys and Dolls:

Please join me in wishing Mr. Jerome Lester Horwitz a "VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY" today.

You all know him as "Curly" from the 3 Stooges. I read a short biography on him awhile back. He was a lonely but a jovial and loving man always searching for that evasive love in his life. He finally found the woman who loved him and took care of him till the day he died. I'm sure Curly is in heaven putting on his antics every night. Rest in Peace Curly.

WAY TO GO PHILLIES

Good Morning Speakies and Phillies Fans:

It did not start off right, but sure did end well, with the Phillies becoming the 2009 National League Champions. I was a little leery about watching the first couple of innings but I’m glad I did, with my wife yelling at me to put the game on and leave it on. She cheered them on for every play, they must of heard her in Philly because when she said get a hit they did. What a win, congratulations and let’s see if the Yankees will be their next opponent. My local paper back home says it all.

Guys and Dolls have a great day, I'll be back later with any history lessons or news I can find, but you can mark October 21, 2009 a history day in Major League Baseball.

DON'T YOU JUST LOVE THEM

Hi Speakies:

Yes readers, two more morning glories from the State of Florida gracing our local TV news and newspapers. Names of these towns have been changed to protect the fine people who live there.

From Ohmymy Beach, Florida – A 41-year old man (if you can call him that) was arrested for repeatedly slamming a puppy against a wall because it soiled his floor. The puppy a mixed brown Lab was taken to the Humane Society with eye and leg injuries. This putz was released after posting $1,000 bond. I’d like to see a pack of dogs visit this guy and chew his butt raw. Enough abuse to children and animals in this state, in fact in our country.

From Hicksville, Florida – I’m sure most of my Speakies have heard of the little girl that has been missing from her home in this great metropolis town for several months now. Her whereabouts is unknown but a person of interest is the stepmother (now a former stepmother). This teenage queen and the father recently were married and this week just got a divorce. Well Barbie was in NYC last week giving an interview on one of the morning shows about the case and my guess she received a little $$$ for her appearance. Well last night this Prom Queen and a few female court members were robbed trying to buy drugs. One can say, "Money does burn a hole in one's pocket." This doll should have never entered into the land of the living.

Strictly the opinion of Joey Z.

DR. NO IS NO LONGER

Guys and Dolls:

Joseph Wiseman, an actor who played the sinister scientist Dr. No in the first James Bond movie (Dr. No) has died at the age of 91. Wiseman appeared in many movies and TV series but his first love was the stage. Wiseman was in declining health and died at his Manhattan home on Monday.

GREAT HEADLINES AND CRAZIES

Happy Hump Day Speakies:

Today's post is a little humor, stupid laws and where are your brains judges and school districts?

Headline from Palm Coast, Florida - Someone is sending this to Jay Leno for real.

"Woman Accused of Sex with Teen, Dog Gets 5 Years." - That would make Yogi Berra's head do a 180. The woman had sex with both the minor and the pup but its the headline that makes this story funny. Here is the sad part, Bestiality is not a crime in Florida, better look at the law books Crime Stoppers for the times they are a changing.

Here is another example of legal justice:

Orange County, Florida - A teacher is facing charges, after investigators say he threatened to shoot students and kill the principal. He wanted a student to be first on a list to get into a class. This caused him to become a "Florida Crazy." He has bonded out of jail and get this, he is on "LEAVE PAID" from the school. You threaten students and faculty and you still pass go and collect. There was a story a few weeks ago about a teacher who wrote to his senator complaining about one school's administrative practices and was fired. What the hell is wrong with this picture. The schools are complaining about lack of funds, cutting programs and they pay this nimrod after what he did, it goes beyond me.

Well Speakies, I missed the meteor showers last night, I think they are still on for tonight but I'll settle to see the fireworks over Citizens Bank Park in Philly tonight, hoping the Phillies win the National League title. Have a great "Hump Day" and be careful out there.

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

ORIONID METEOR SHOWER

Speakies:
I try to give you all the updates I can. Here's one for you, the Orionid Meteor Shower is expected to put on a good show tonight. They will begin late tonight into the predawn hours Wednesday weather permitting in your area. This annual shower is created when the Earth passes through trails of comet debris left in space long ago by Halley's Comet.

The best time to watch will be between 1 a.m. and dawn, however I'll be out there around 10:30 and some should be present at that time. So if you can't sleep or you are a meteor seeker have fun after 1 a.m.

OLD FRIENDS, BASEBALL AND GREAT WEATHER

Hey Guys and Dolls:

I should have stayed up to catch the ending of the Phillies game last night, but I was the one that lost out. Great come back win, one more win does it. The Yankee game was a good one to watch yesterday too. Just checked the local news and no crazies to report on yet. The weather here in Florida is beautiful in the low 80’s, low humidity and no rain. This should make those weathermen on the local TV stations go crazy with nothing to report. Today is Miss American Rose Day; give your doll a rose and a nice kiss.

Yesterday I received an e-mail from a friend who was more a buddy than a second cousin. We use to hang out together in Trenton, NJ along with a couple of other good friends, “The Old Beatty Street Boys.” In my mind it seems just like yesterday, but after 40 years where did the time go? I never thought I would hear from those guys again but with all the blog sites and facebook who would ever think. Tom it was nice hearing from you and we will keep in touch.

Speakies have a great day, be careful out there and like General MacArthur said, well almost like he said, “I’ll Shall Be Back.”

A LITTLE BIT FOR THE GREY MATTER

MONDAY MORNING WISHES

Hello Guys and Dolls:

Hope your weekend was filled with fun and good cheer. Tough loss for the Phillies on Friday, but what a game and rebound last night in that 11 to 0 win. Let’s hope for another win tonight and maybe a series wrap-up and onward to the World Series. The Eagles were another story and I won’t go into details.

I like to welcome a new reader from Malta. Thanks for stopping by and do come back and let us know what’s new in Malta.

Today we observe:
World Osteoporosis Day – Take care of those bones everybody.
Evaluate Your Life Day – It ain’t easy being me.

I see Balloon Boy’s family is in trouble, I guess Daddy Balloon had his heart set on being a TV reality star, I guess you can say his bubble has burst. Have a great day; I’ll be searching for interesting facts or stories.

WEATHER NEWS FLASH BY JOEYZ

I’m back Guys and Dolls. I had to write this one and hope our local TV news and weather anchors will read it.

“BREAKING NEWS” – CENTRAL FLORIDA. – Storm clouds are approaching from the North and West, bringing a cold front, yes a cold front to snap the blistering heat wave that has gripped us for the past 3 weeks. I’m checking with Zipper One Radar right now for the approximate arrival of this front. Rain will be in our area in the early afternoon and continuing into this evening. Winds will be from the West at 10 to 20 MPH with higher gusts. With the approach of this cold front, you may want to dig out those light jackets or sweaters for you and the kiddies. Temperatures are expected to dip into the 60’s this evening; you may want to contact your heater repair service for that checkup.

Further reports to follow in 5 minute intervals. Updates at 6:00 p.m.

WEEKEND WISHES

Good Morning Speakies and Happy Friday:

Well those Phillies played another nail bitter last night, but held on to win the first NLCS game against those Dodgers. The second game is today at 4:30 Eastern Daylight Time. My suggestion is to develop a headache around 2:30 p.m. today, tell the boss you need to close your eyes, leave work get that 6-pack and watch the game. For you Yankee fans the game is 8:00 p.m. tonight on FOX.

This weekend we celebrate the following observances:

Saturday
Bridge Day – Go out and buy the Brooklyn Bridge with some friends.
Sweetest Day – Tell your honeys they are the best.
World Toy Camera Day – I’d have to go to the Boardwalk at Seaside Heights and try to win a toy camera in one of those deposit your money and let that hook try to pick one up machines.

Sunday
National Chocolate Cupcake Day – My favorite.
World Menopause Day – Keeping my distance.

We also celebrate next week:
Freedom From Bullies Week – Do a Ralphie on a Scut Farkas.
National Chemistry Week – Don’t blow anyone up.

Well Guys and Dolls whatever you do this weekend, have fun, be careful and thoughtful of each other, most of all “BE HAPPY.”

ANOTHER SAD LOSS TODAY

Speakies:

Just heard the news, WWF former wrestling star "Captain" Lou Albano passed away today at the age of 76. Rest in peace Lou, you can start your own wrestling association up there in the sky.

WELCOME TO SERBIA

Just had my first visitor from Serbia. A warm welcome to stop by and comment any time.

ACCEPT MY RULES ON HAVING CHILDREN

Dear Speakies:

Another very sad news story out of Pensacola, Florida. I hate reporting these stories, but until humanoid trash like this is exterminated off the face of the earth or my rules for having children are accepted, this will occur again and again. White trash, black, yellow or brown skinned, I don’t care, the children are the ones that have died or are suffering.

A 21-year old mother of three was arrested after her 18-month old baby was found dead in a trash can. She admitted dumping the body to the police. Her other 2 children were found nearby alone, both malnourished and dehydrated. The children were left alone while she went to work. The house had no electricity or running water.

Some of you may say we did not give her the help she needed, hell your a 21-years old with 3 children (you knew how to do that); if you don’t know how to ask for assistance there’s a problem. The other 2 children are now in safe hands and hopefully will find a good home. That is the opinion of Joey Z.

I may be back this afternoon with some glad tidings for a change.

AL MARTINO DIES AT 82

Guys and Dolls:

Singer Al Martino who played the role of Johnny Fontane in "The Godfather" and recorded hits such as "Spanish Eyes", "Here in My Heart", and "Volare", died at his home in the Philadelphia suburb of Springfield at the age of 82. No cause of death was disclosed. His good friend Philly DJ and TV personality Jerry Blavat had dined with Martino and his wife on Monday night and said he appeared to be in fine shape.

As a tribute, the first song on my blog is "Spanish Eyes", rest in peace Al.

We finish this day at work and the weekend is 2 days away. Hope you all have a great day and a relaxing evening at home or whatever you will be doing. I may be back later in the day with breaking news or something that irks my bones but now it is time to enhance your minds.

DOWN WITH THE LOCAL NEWS

I’m Steaming Speakies:

I wrote a whole chapter in my book about the local news and weather reporting, you need to purchase my book and read me in my full attack mode. I’m writing this now because the weather reporting at all our local news stations is becoming a fine madness. For the past few weeks our temperatures have been in the mid-90’s and I mean hot and humid, it’s like stepping into an oven. We live in Florida, this is the type of weather we have in the summer. Florida can not help it if Indian Summer stays occasionally into October. I would personally like to see a cool down and it will come. I like warm weather better than shoveling snow and freezing my butt off. I would never want to dress and look like Randy that little kid in a Christmas Story movie.

Here’s my beef, last night our local TV news which lasts an hour and a half and repeats most of the stories twice, featured the hot weather at least 6 times. Same comments, “It’s sure hot outside, when will there be some relief Bob?” I’ll tell you relief will come when it RAINS. All I can say is give us the important news stories, not the weather every 5 minutes. By the way while I’m at it tell the Sport’s anchor there are more teams than the Florida Gators to report on.

WELCOME GREECE

Just wanted to extend a welcome to my first reader from Athens, Attiki, Greece. I also received an e-mail advising me Greece has visited my site. Welcome aboard Greek Speakie.

BASEBALL, CALENDAR AND SCHOOL LUNCHES

Good Day Again Guys and Dolls:

Wishing you all a very happy Tuesday. And for all you Phillies fans out there this day is a little happier. What a great come back game last night and now on to face the Dodgers. I would love to see a Phillies – Yankees World Series and a little pay back for the 1950 series loss. Oh well I can dream. This week and all week long we celebrate the following:

Emergency Nurses Week – I guess that’s for those E-Room saints.
Home Based Business Week – Sell those home made products.
National Chestnut Week – This should be in December to go along with roasting on an open fire.
National School Lunch Week – Remember the good old days of macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, hamburgers and all those other great lunch specials. In grammar school we had those Philadelphia hot soft pretzels on sale for 10 cents each after lunch. We also had a choice of three drinks, white milk, chocolate milk or an orange drink. My grammar school was in the Polish neighborhood where I grew up and those Polish ladies in the cafeteria sure could cook.

Let me know what food you had for lunch favorites. Now come on if you read you can answer my questions, let’s get a little action going here. Have a nice day and be careful out there. I may be back.

CHECK BACK

SPEAKIES:

CHECK BACK THIS AFTERNOON, I'M ON A ROLL.

HUMAN TRASH

Good Morning Speakies:

I promise I will return with brighter news and happier things, but first another story to make people aware of the human trash that live among us.

Another sad story to report out of Palm Bay, Florida. According to the local police department a woman’s boyfriend forced her 8-year old daughter to chew on a half-bar of soap for 10 minutes. This was done to punish the child for a non-specified reason. The woman was afraid to take the child to the emergency room after finding her in distress wheezing and with a swollen lip. She was fearful of any action the DCF might take against her and her beloved idiot boyfriend. The boyfriend finally took the girl to the emergency room for treatment. The good news is that the hospital notified DCF and the two scum buckets were arrested for child abuse and neglect. The girl was not the child of the boyfriend, but sad to say they do have an 18-month old child together. Luckily DCF took the children into custody.

Before you throw them in jail for about 20-years, I say let them chew on a whole bar of soap while getting a non-stop enema until all the soap is digested.

Strictly the opinion of JoeyZ.

PRO SPORTS NEW SCHEDULES BY JOEYZ

Good Afternoon Speakies:

I’m a sports lover, not as much as I use to be when I lived in New Jersey. There I was a fanatic Eagle and Phillies fan ever since my boyhood days. I saw the Phillies play in Connie Mack Stadium and Veterans Stadium. Saw those Eagles in person in the lean seasons, screaming my lungs out on every play. Now I can say I have calmed down, not watching that many games but I still hold those 2 teams dear to my heart and only hope championships for them when possible.

After seeing the notice on Saturday that the Phillies game was postponed because of snow, I say we need a change in scheduling pro sports. Here is my plan:

Baseball – Baseball players are referred to as “The Boys of Summer”, so let’s set up their schedule. Spring Training is held in Florida and Arizona, warm states, keep training as it is, beginning in February and ending March 30th. Start regular season April 1 and end season August 31. Playoffs and World Series to be held in September got a whole month for that. If a team like Colorado or some Chicago team is in playoffs, one does not have to worry about playing in the snow or cold. After all baseball is a summer game.

Football – No changes, 16 game schedule, playoffs in December with Super Bowl in January. Fine, no beefs with me.

Basketball and Ice Hockey – Now here are my 2 biggest complaints, too long of a season. Basketball pre-season starts in October and the playoffs go to June. Preseason should start in October; regular season begins in November and ends in February. Playoffs begin in March and end no later than the first week in April. Same for Ice Hockey no reason the long seasons.

This balances pro sports for the entire year, and not hearing gee whiz they are still playing basketball in June. Opinions are welcomed by all Speakies.

MONDAY SPORTS TALK WITH JOEYZ

Good Monday Morning Speakies:

Hope you all had a great weekend. The weather down here in Florida was a hot 93 degrees and we are breaking records every day. I will be back later to propose my professional sports schedule. I’m happy my Phillies won last night, I turned the game on around 10:30 p.m. and saw all the happy fans in Denver bundled up like they were attending a January football game. The Phils were losing at that point and I had to turn the channel. Much to my surprise, when I got to work and checked Yahoo Sports, I saw they won. The Eagles also gave a little payback to those Tampa Bay Bucs yesterday. Like I said I will be back later to give you my official professional sports schedule as it should be, the JoeyZ’s way, let's see if you agree.

GORT, KLAATU BARADA NIKTO

Speakies:

Before I leave for the weekend, I just read a story on the news. NASA probes hits the moon twice, but the pictures were fuzzy. The BIG SPLASH the boys on the Space Coast hoped for did not happen, all I can say is FUBAR. How much money was spent on this grand idea by NASA? I’d say millions, for what to see if there is ice or water under the surface? What the hell do we care, are we going there any time soon? Are there secret plans to build a bottling company on the moon? Bottled Moon Water, I can just imagine the advertising for this product, all the in-people will be running and plucking down $25 for a bottle of “Miracle Moon Water”, it’s out of this world.

How do you know you did not piss off the “Moon Men” if they exist by blasting their surface? NASA better be careful of what you do, remember that 1951 Sci-Fi Movie, “The Day the Earth Stood Still.” Klaatu coming to Earth with the warning that if we fire weapons in outer space, he will send Gort to turn the Earth into a pile of burning cinders. Take heed Earthlings, fix the needs of our planet first.

Strictly the opinion of JoeyZ.

DON'T MISS IT OR JUST TAPE IT

Hey Guys and Dolls:

I'm not a movie critic, but there is a great movie on tomorrow night on Turner Movie Classics at 8 p.m. It's "The Manchurian Candidate", starring Frank Sinatra and a great cast. The movie was made in 1962 and there was a remake made in 2004, starring Denzel Washington. So if your not busy break out some popcorn and enjoy a great movie, if not tape it.

This is JoeyZ's Speakeasy and we discuss everything. Have a great evening.

FOOD SAFETY

Hey Guys and Dolls

Before I sign-off today, a co-worker of mine sent me this website concerning different foods and basically their shelf or refrigerator life. I thought I'd pass it along to you readers to check it out.

GONNA MAKE THEM AN OFFER

Hello Speakies:

Now there are crimes and there are crimes. No crime is acceptable and all criminals should be punished under the law. This crime out of Flagler County, Florida must be handled in a different fashion of the law. Here is the crime:

“PIZZA DELIVERY DRIVER TASED AND ROBBED” – Two teenagers were arrested and charged with robbing a “FEMALE” pizza delivery driver. A female no less! They also had a gun. The charges probably will be armed robbery and assault. Let’s throw in a third charge, assault on a female, a female pizza delivery person. Whatever punishment these twin bozos receive will not suffice in JoeyZ’s Land.

We must establish a “Pizza Hit Force.” Men in black responding to calls by delivery drivers having eerie feelings that unknowns are following them on their delivery routes. Perhaps we can arrange for a giant lighted pepperoni pizza spotlight that could flash in the sky to summon our heroes in black. A secret cave located on the out skirts of town that houses a staging area filled with vehicles decorated with painted pepperoni and sausage. These vehicles ready in a moments notice to speed into action in order to protect our beloved pizza and their drivers.

One more assignment to be placed on these men in black is to assure us, the consumers of a properly prepared pizza. We will no longer stand for a cold pizza, one with skimpy toppings or without that extra sauce we ordered. Pizza shops beware the time has come to protect our pizza rights and our Hit Force will be there to Enforce.

OPPS FUMBLE

Speakies:

Here’s one sports fans, hot off the press. Conservative talk host Rush Limbaugh said Tuesday he is teaming up with St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts in a bid to buy the St. Louis Rams Football Team. Gee Rush you worked briefly on ESPN but resigned after making a wonderful Christian comment about Donovan McNabb and his skin color. Only one thing to say to you Rush, the NFL does have a drug policy. Remember being a jerk and drugs don’t mix.

Strictly the opinion of Joey Z.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6

Good Morning Guys and Dolls:

What is October; well October to me has always been the official start of the Fall Season. It is also the National Month of:

Hispanic Heritage.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month – So Ladies, please see your doctor and get those mammograms.
National Aids Awareness Month.
And one of my favorites, “Polish American Heritage Month.”

Today, October 6th, we celebrate:
Diversity Day
German American Day – Some Sauerbraten mit Spaetzle und Rotkraut would be nice for lunch or dinner.
Child Health Day – Keep the little ones in good health.
Physician Assistant Day – Praise those assistants, when you can’t see the doctor because he’s all booked up.

History was kind of lame today so I’m letting your minds rest to get ready for the baseball playoffs. Have a great day Speakies and be careful out there.

TWO MORE CANDIDATES FOR PARENTS OF THE YEAR

Speakies:

I thought I was finished writing this afternoon but reality stuck out its ugly head. A news story from Ocala, Florida that got my gander. A couple who drove around without connecting their 7-month-old son’s car seat was stopped for a third time, resulting in DUI and child neglect charges. The couple’s car was spotted and stopped at 3 a.m. by sheriff’s deputies. What are they doing with a small baby in a car, drunk at that time of the morning?

Daddy Bear had 5 beers and smoked some crack cocaine and was stopped two other times the same night for having an open container in the car. Why wasn’t he arrested than? Mommy Bear was also drinking and smoking cocaine. Both failed sobriety tests, I guess so. Daddy Bear told the police he was driving erratically because Mommy wanted more cocaine to puff on.

You all know the article I wrote the other day, these two knuckle heads are pure candidates for some snip snip action before they get out of jail.

Just had to let the world know that crazies still roam the earth. Have a nice weekend all.

WEEKEND WISHES

Good Morning Speakies:

Well it’s that favorite work day of the week Friday, the day we say, “I’ll do that on Monday.” It’s the day of the long coffee break, that little than longer lunch and more time at the water cooler day picking those football games on Sunday. Let’s see what observances there are this weekend.

Friday, October 2:
Guardian Angels Day – I believe in them, I once heard dogs are our guardian angels.
National Fallen Firefighters Day – God Bless each one.
National Custodial Workers Day – They need one after cleaning up our mess.
World Smile Day – I wish that could happen one day or that quote from many a beauty pageant, “I Wish for World Peace.”

Change a Light Day – Just move a few bulbs around.
World Card Making Day – This holiday is for you Roe.

Sunday, October 4:
Blessing of the Fishing Fleet – Keep them boats afloat.
World Communication Day – We need that more than ever.
