Being it’s the baseball playoffs here’s some baseball history for today:
1887 – Phillies set club record 16 straight victories.
1915 – Phillies win their first World Series before 1980, beating Red Sox.
1927 – Yankees sweep Pirates in the 24th World Series.
1930 – Philadelphia A’s beat St. Louie 4 games to 2 in 27th World Series.
1940 – Reds beat Tigers in 37th World Series.
1956 – Yankees Don Larsen pitches only perfect game in the World Series – I saw that game when I was a kid.
1977 – Dodgers beat Phillies 4 to 1 to win NL pennant.
