Luee

Luee
We adopted Luee from the Humane Society in 1996. He was 2 years old, but still a pup. He has slowed down a bit; his age is catching up to him. He is the best dog anyone could ever have. Luee had to be put to sleep on April 15, 2009. Rest in Peace Pup.

MAKE MINE A BLT (BAGEL, LOX AND TOOTHACHE)

Happy Thursday Guys and Dolls:

A painful holiday we celebrate this day, “TOOTHACHE DAY.” You’ve heard that song “There is Nothing Like a Dame” well there is nothing more painful than a toothache. I’m sure we’ve all had them once in our lives. I remember being scared stiff of dentists when I was a wee one. As my adult teeth were trying to break the gum my baby teeth would not fall out. My Mother took me to a Polish dentist on Brunswick Ave. who looked more like a construction worker than a dentist. As he started to probe around, I bolted out of that chair and ran all the way home with Mom chasing me down. There was no way he was going to work in my mouth with that ancient equipment he had. Finally we found a great dentist who gassed me up and pulled all those teeth. My Grandmother had a quick fire relief for a toothache. She would pour whiskey into a shot glass and tell you to put it in your mouth and hold it against the tooth until you could not stand the burn of the booze. Sometimes your mouth would be numb for a half-hour but the pain was gone. Today’s technology has really changed so don’t fear going to the dentist, just go and get rid of the pain for good.

Today is also “BAGELS AND LOX DAY.” I worked with a very nice Jewish gentleman once and was invited over to his house one Sunday for a brunch. That day I was introduced to lox a very salty, thin sliced salmon but on a bagel it was delicious. My buddy at work Johnny A. loves his lox when he and his wife are cruising, he creates it like a hoagie sandwich. There was a bakery in Trenton called Kramer’s who made the best bagels ever. People lined up around midnight on Saturday to start purchasing them by the bag full. There was nothing like a Kramer’s hot bagel and crème cheese. Well I don’t have a bagel to enjoy this morning with coffee but if you have a chance sneak out and grab some for you and your co-workers and enjoy.

Have a great day Guys and Dolls.
