Luee

Luee
We adopted Luee from the Humane Society in 1996. He was 2 years old, but still a pup. He has slowed down a bit; his age is catching up to him. He is the best dog anyone could ever have. Luee had to be put to sleep on April 15, 2009. Rest in Peace Pup.

IT IS COMING - "BE NICE TO NEW JERSEY WEEK"

Good Day Guys and Dolls:

A happy day to all my readers and hoping your evening was pleasant. This week most of us are looking forward to a 3 day weekend celebrating the 4th of July on Monday. I read an interesting article that in the first week of July we celebrate a holiday dear to us Jersey hearts, “Be Nice to New Jersey Week.” Us Jersey people have heard all that nasty talk like the “Arm Pit of America, off what exit of the Turnpike do you live? and other assorted insults.

Now I haven’t lived there in 20 years but it was my home for most of my life and I have a lot of fond memories of Trenton, NJ. New Jersey is the home to some great people Thomas Edison, Frank Sinatra, The Soprano’s and the “Boss” Bruce Springsteen. We have great Sicilian Pizza, Pork Roll, True Italian Subs, The Shore with its boardwalks and amusements, great Italian Sausage Sandwiches with peppers and onions, Diners and the best Beefsteak Tomatoes in the universe. In Trenton Nino’s great cheese steaks and fries and one cannot forget DeLorenzo’s and Papa’s Tomato Pies. One more thing about NJ, we don’t pump our own gas.

Now for the first week in July, no insults and honor that holiday, “BE NICE TO NEW JERSEY WEEK” or Big Tony will be paying you a visit.

Let’s wish some people Happy Birthday Today no matter here, up there or down there:

Nelson Eddy – Actor, Singer.
Slim Pickens – Actor Blazing Saddles and many films.
Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle – Comedy actor.
Harmon Killebrew – Baseball Player.
Gary Busey – Actor Buddy Holly Story, Silver Bullet.
“Little” Eva Boyd – Do the Locomotion.
Fred Grandy – Gopher from “The Love Boat.”

And a Salute to one great composer who passed away this date in 1941, the Polish great Ignace Paderewski.

Speakies have a great day and be careful out there.

Hi Joe:)
More bragging about Jersey:)

Jersey Has..

Princeton Record Exchange
The largest independent record/CD
store on the east coast

Great Adventure Amusement Park

The Delaware Water Gap
Awesome Natural Beauty

The Cranbury Bookworm
A huge used bookstore in the
pretty little town of Cranbury

Barnegat Lighthouse
One of the oldest on the east coast

NYC Metro (30 million people) and
Philly Metro (6 million people) nearby.

Our gas is usually cheaper than the national average due to low
taxes on it and refineries nearby.

Wawa Coffee

Tasty Kakes

The reasons folks move away from
NJ are

1 Job opportunities too good to
pass up
2 Weather
3 To be near family in other states
4 Cost of living drives them away

We can't do anything about the first 3 but point 4 must be addressed and I think folks in NJ
know we must work on that:)

"She Who Must Be Obeyed", was reading me a thing on Edison just last night. In his battle with Westinghouse and Tesla to prove AC was not the way to go, he used it as a tool to ... well kill animals.

The most dramatic display was the killing of "Topsy", who had crushed three handlers at the Luna Park Zoo on Coney Island.

Copper boots for old Topsy and .. you can see the video (short) on YouTube.

Macabe .. sorry .. and apart from the usual light banter.

Joe .... another weird odd factoid I heard over breakfast with a Saint Hedwig's Old Timer. Can you confirm this????

There is a cross out in the courtyard between the church, school and rectory. We started talking about it because that I where I got sent for detention.

The story of the erection of the cross is that a kid in the 1930's brought in a shell ... live round .. and it went off in the hall. He ran out and died where that cross was located.

TheSkipper (my old nickname)

Skip, my parents bought our house on Brunswick Ave after they got married in 1946. We had an old grumpy aunt that lived with us for awhile,my parents and some of the old timers never said anything about that story, I may do some research on this one. Don't fight with the drunks on Christmas Eve this year. That was funny, I wonder if it was Father Vincent Nebus or maybe Father Fred?
