Happy Thursday Guys and Dolls:
I’m dedicating this holiday to my son Joe and to others like him out there. It is
“THIRD SHIFT WORKERS DAY” and I guess getting used to working third shift is probably no fun for those who originally worked days. Joey Z says
“HATS OFF TO YOU GUYS AND DOLLS.”
Get this holiday
“ROOT CANAL APPRECIATION DAY.” The only ones who appreciate root canals are the dentists that perform and get paid for doing them. I guess we have to appreciate it for the relief we receive from the pain associated with the tooth.
Here we go Foodie Speakies, it is
“NATIONAL SHRIMP DAY” and by now you should all know how much I love seafood. What are shrimps you ask? They are swimming, decapod crustaceans found in fresh and salt water. They are filter feeding animals living close to the bottom. They can live in schools and can swim rapidly backwards. They are an important food source for other fish including whales and Joey Z. I love shrimp boiled, fried, roasted on the Barbie let’s face it I love shrimp any way you serve them. I know I mentioned this before but the old La Gondola in the Burg made the best shrimp scampi ever.
Have to say goodbye for now, have a great day and a wonderful evening Guys and Dolls.

I love seafood and shrimp and crab are high on the list. Sadly, they are getting hard to get.
What gets Skip's dander up is ordering a crab or shrimp dish like crab salad and finding no crab or shrimp but "tsurimi" which is basically smashed pollock bits with a bit of crab and binders made to look like it. Kind of a be-all fish paste .... Darned it, when I order crab or shrimp that is what I expect? Wife says I am being "picky". Arggggggggggggg!

Skipster: I totally agree thats one reason I would never eat at Red -----again. Scallops were as big as my finger nail and I had to dig for the crab in my stuff flounder. When I want seafood I want the best.
Thanks dad for recognizing all us third shift workers. It ain't easy but we make it work. alos looking forward to our shrimp dinner tonight. See you soon. Love ya
Joey: Happy to have you for dinner last night, glad you enjoyed the shrimp. Love you too.
One of my wackier jobs was working for PSE&G at Duck Island. We raised rainbow trout, talapia, catfish and "Macro Brachia" .. or South Vietnamese river shrimp. All in the name of science. The trout were good, and we could not wait for the bounty of shrimp! But wait, each day there seemed to be a shrimp or two missing till one evening the mystery was solved. They were cannibal shrimp and when it came down to the last two, my boss informed me that he and his wife found them quite tasty, being the size of small lobsters.

Argggggg me hearties, twas' a great place for a lover of seafood to work; free trout fillets, smoked trout and in early winter a catfish fillet is wonderful when deep fried.
SKIP: DID NOT KNOW THEY HAD ALL THAT TYPE OF FISH THERE. THE ONLY THING I EVER CAUGHT IN THE RIVER WAS CATFISH OR A CARP.
