Luee

Luee
We adopted Luee from the Humane Society in 1996. He was 2 years old, but still a pup. He has slowed down a bit; his age is catching up to him. He is the best dog anyone could ever have. Luee had to be put to sleep on April 15, 2009. Rest in Peace Pup.

I WANT MY CORNER STORE

Happy Thursday Guys and Dolls:

Should I hit you with a study lesson for those little ones who ask you what happen this day in history Daddy or give you a break until next week? Take a break because Spring break is in full swing down here and little ones from all over are running wild. There are a few holidays we can talk about today.

Vietnam Veterans Day – Stop and take a brief moment to remember all those who served and gave their lives and add a little prayer. I was in the service at that time and I remember my friends who were there and some I never saw again.

Love Your Children Day – We don’t need a special day for that, love your children every day and tell them you love them and hold them tight. They grow too fast but never forget they are your children and never too old for a hug and kiss.

Mom and Pop Business Owners Day – To me gone is the true age of quality products and service with a sincere smile. Mom and Pop businesses are far and few between anymore. The large chain stores, restaurants and markets have forced the closure of many of these small businesses. Let’s bring back some good old memories and I’m sure you had your share too. There was this little grocery store near my grandmother’s house when I was growing up called Leslie’s. I remember going there to pick-up food items for granny and handing Leslie a book in which he wrote down the items and amount. Granny would see him at the end of the week and settle the score, try to do that in this day and age. How about those little family owned restaurants or deli’s remember those places. Now try to get a decent hoagie, some lunch meat or rolls even baked goods on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Yes Joey Z does miss Mom and Pop stores so if you are lucky to still have them in your neighborhood, stop by and wish them a happy holiday.

I better get off my band wagon and say good-bye. Have a great day and as always be safe out there.

The corner store..
bells on the door..
old fashioned cash register...
closed from saturday afternoon to
monday morning...

I think while product quality in many things has arguably declined, the real decline is in customer service when you get franchise businesses.

But local stores were great growing up :)
