YES GUYS AND DOLLS:
THIS IS NOT AN AMERICAN HOLIDAY. "RESPECT YOUR ELDERS DAY" IT IS CELEBRATED IN JAPAN. THERE ARE PROBABLY A LOT OF AMERICAN ATTITUDES (AND YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN PEARL HARBOR AND ALL THAT) TO JAPAN. I LOOK UPON THIS DAY THAT IS SOMETHING WE DO NOT OBSERVE IN THE U.S., RESPECT TO OUR ELDERS AND NOW THAT I AM ONE OF THEM ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS. BACK IN LATE AUGUST I WATCHED THE LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES AND SAW THE RESPECT THAT THE LITTLE JAPANESE PLAYERS SHOWED TO THE OTHER TEAMS AND THE UMPIRES. NOW I TAKE A LOOK AT OUR COUNTRY, RESPECT FOR ELDERS (MAKES ME SICK). TAKE AWAY SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE AND LET THE ELDERLY SUFFER WHILE THE RICH AND YOU KNOW WHAT PARTY I'M TALKING ABOUT AND IF YOU DON'T GET YOU HEADS OUT OF YOUR BUTTS. HAVE WE LOST RESPECT FOR OUR ELDERLY PEOPLE IS THERE ANY HOPE OF THE DAYS GONE BY? I WAS RAISED TO HELP SOMEONE OLDER THAN I WAS GROWING UP. COME ON WE REMEMBER HOW IT WAS TO HELP CARRY PACKAGES OR HELP GRANDMOMS OR GRANDPOPS WALK ACROSS THE STREET TO SAFETY. PLEASE GUYS AND DOLL BRING BACK THOSE DAYS, IT IS NOT ONLY FOR THE ELDERLY TODAY BUT FOR YOUR FUTURE IN THE DAYS TO COME AND YOUR CHILDREN'S FUTURE. DO NOT SUBMIT TO THE RICH AND IGNORANT OF AMERICA TODAY.
PUTT-PUTT DAY - AFTER THAT FIRST THOUGHT I'M TIRED. TAKE THE LITTLE ONES FOR A DAY OF FUN AND REMEMBER THOSE DAY YOU PLAYED THE GAME WHEN LIFE WAS SIMPLE AND YOU FELT SAFE. YOU ALSO HAD A FEW EXTRA BUCKS IN YOUR POCKET TO DO THIS THEN. JOEY Z SAYS WHAT HE FEELS AND THAT WILL ALWAYS BE ME ON THIS BLOG.
HAVE A GREAT DAY.

The "rules" when I was a kid growing up were to clear the walk of of all of the elderly and don't dare take a dime. That included a few who would not speak to us since we were Polish.
I trained under some very strict Japanese rules later in life. The elders were revered but also part of my "job" with the new candidates was never to make them appear to be fools or show how superior I was. My job was of course, to win but make us both look good; to make a novice look bad only made me look worse.
My Sensei lived through the bombing of Nagasaki; he was 10 at the time. On days like that or Pearl Harbor day we got a polite greeting but then had "self training" while he sat in his office. In this way, no offense could be taken and since most of us were former military, there was no disrespect. One day we were dealing with a problem child (of 30), who needed to be put in his place. I was told to "slay your opponent, don't humiliate him".
Joe & Skip are now headed down to "19'th Hole" for a bit of pitch and putt, then we'll smack out a bucket of balls and try to nail Dickie Tuliciewski' on the Jeep and after that it's over to "Bounceland" for the trampolines.
Now that I can't push the blower anymore, I bought a Kubota with a plow. I really enjoy the looks on the face of a neighbor when they find the driveway taken care of. As a retired guy, what else can I do? Count snowflakes?
Skip .. we grew up in the best of times, no doubt about it!
SKIP: SO GLAD TO HAVE YOU BACK, AS ALWAYS I APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS. DICK TULICIEWSKI SOUNDS SO NEIGHBOR LIKE, IT HAS BEEN SO MANY YEARS. THANKS ONCE AGAIN AND HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.
