Good Morning Guys and Dolls:
Well it is Thursday, August 26, 2010. Today we have two holidays I would like to inform you about. The first is Children’s Day and the second is National Dog Day, what a combo, kids and dogs, buddies and pals as they grow up together that’s the way it should be.
For those of us who have children no matter what age, give them a little hug and kiss today, tell them you love them and maybe buy them a little treat. To my sons, I love you both very much and I’m very proud of you both.
National Dog Day – What can you say about this day? We had our Luee and I’m sure my readers had their dogs too. If you are lucky to still have your pups around take care of them, show them affection and be kind to them. To all those dogs up above, it’s your day, eat what you want, pee on anything you wish and chase those mailman and cats until tomorrow. I have one thing to say to Luee, “Easy on the turkey and cheese sandwiches.”
Roe and I watched Man vs. Food last night and saw the segment from Marucas Tomato Pies on the boardwalk. The pie looked good but I don’t remember the sauce swirl, but who cares I just wanted a slice to chow down on. Oh well in my dreams for now.
I had some great comments on my Polish food post, I would like to thank Mack, Skip and Number 2 son for their comments and input. I better go and change the music Polish Day is over but the food lives on.
Have a great day everybody and be careful out there.

After our Homer, a lab mix, passed on I have been longing for a dog. Well my wish came true and combining "The Catch of the Day", with the Polski topic of yesterday, a few days ago my whirlwind, hair on fire daughter blasts in and announces that she got caught for the third time and faced eviction for "NO PETS" violations, her dog would be with me for a few days.
The short, I ended up with a Polish dog, a Pomeranian, which is a region of Poland (Pomorze), in the NW corner.
The dog loves it when I have conversations with it. Yesterday I was teasing it about being a Polish dog and hit it with a few phrases from my pigeon Polski. I finally said "You are not Polish, well schacref holleta" ... that is very phonetic but means "dogs blood and cholera", a strong Polish curse. The dog got off my lap and turned it's back on me. Holy cow? Nah, it can't?

Skip - I have no comments on this one, one funny true story. Our Luee was a mixed Lab, great dog I never spoke Polish to him though.
In 1970 Quebec gave up claim to Labrador so we should have been perhaps trying French with those big goons.
This little Pomeranian is a trip. All go,go,go,go ... sleep .. repeat. Tiny thing with fast feet!

We had a cocker spaniel for
17 years. Its name was Smdel.
It was named after all of us kids by our Mom and Dad.
Shari Michel David Edwin Linda..
Smdel... my sister Sandra was born
in 1975 but we got the pooch before then and after it haa a name
folks tend to keep it as is..so
he remained Smdel.
We took him to Washington Crossing
to run around and he ran for 3 hours but when he came home he was
a big snoring ball of fir on the kitchen floor for like a day LMAO:)
Skip, those little dogs are enough exercise for us alone. Mack love that name SMDEL, classic dog name. Food and pets are great subjects get a lot of comments. Have a great weekend guys.
