Luee

Luee
We adopted Luee from the Humane Society in 1996. He was 2 years old, but still a pup. He has slowed down a bit; his age is catching up to him. He is the best dog anyone could ever have. Luee had to be put to sleep on April 15, 2009. Rest in Peace Pup.

HAPPY GROUNDHOG'S DAY

Good Morning Speakies:

It’s Groundhogs Day 2010. Will Punxsutawney Phil emerge from his burrow and see his shadow which means six more weeks of winter or will he not meaning winter is nearing its end? Check your local news or Yahoo later to see what Phil saw. For all of you looking for an excuse to take a day off from work, here’s your holiday, so you can thank Old Phil.

Besides Groundhog Day we also celebrate Candelmas Day, Hedgehog Day (Same thing) and Sled Dog Day. It’s a day to honor those creatures that roam the earth.

Let’s see who famous was born this date and who went to the pearly gates.

Born Under The Sign of Phil:
1882 – James Joyce – Novelist.
1895 – George S. Halas – Papa Bear of the Chicago Bears.
1927 – Stan Getz – Jazz Tenor Saxophonist.
1937 – Tom Smothers – Comedian
1955 – Brent Spinner – Data from Star Trek.
1963 – Pebbles Flintstone

Entered the Pearly Gates or Maybe Not:
1918 – John L. Sullivan – Heavyweight Boxing Champ.
1979 – Sid Vicious – Musician
1989 – John Cassavetes – Actor “Rosemary’s Baby and Dirty Dozen.”
1996 – Gene Kelly – Actor and Dancer – “Singing in the Rain.”

Well Speakies enjoy the day and be careful out there.

Hi Joe:)
There was a Halas family in the
Burg area. I don't know if they were related to Papa Bear or if that name is common in Greece:)

Mack, now that you mentioned it I remember that name. There was also a family named Halak who lived in South Trenton, I believe my dad was friends with them. Small world.
