Luee

Luee
We adopted Luee from the Humane Society in 1996. He was 2 years old, but still a pup. He has slowed down a bit; his age is catching up to him. He is the best dog anyone could ever have. Luee had to be put to sleep on April 15, 2009. Rest in Peace Pup.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND GUYS AND DOLLS

Happy Friday Speakies:

Sorry I did not post yesterday, I had a doctor visit to attend to and then lunch with my beautiful Roe another great cheese steak sandwich at LaSpada’s in Orlando, if you are in the area gotta try it. I hope all of you had a pleasant Thursday and guess what now it is Friday and the weekend awaits us.

We have a few celebrations this weekend:

Bullwinkle debut on TV or should I say Bullwinkle J. Moose, loved that show.
Especially with Boris and Natasha. Most of the people who did the voices on Rocky and Bullwinkle have passed on but will live on in the memory of those who watched the show.

National Pancake Day – I haven’t had pancakes in years for breakfast I’m more of an eggs and bacon guy and of course those home fries. So if you are a pancake lover have some this weekend.

Finally we celebrate One Hit Wonder Day – all those one time only hit songs. I found a great site called One-Hit-Wonders on the net, check out all the songs and artists that made it only once.

Go Phillies and Eagles this weekend.

Well Gang have a great weekend and Happy Birthday and Anniversary wishes to all my Guys and Dolls who will celebrate them this weekend. Most of all be careful out there and have a good time.

Bullwinkle you say? I used to do a great imitation of the Moose before some dental work changed things a bit. I pay for contact lenses "up front" but they always ask me to sign but being in funny guy/no one pays attention, I signed Bullwinkle J. Moose and of course this is the one time in ages the receptionist actually looked at it. This led to a great chat about Winky Dink, Crusader Rabbit and Rocky.

Radio Shack in QB Mall is always asking for personal information and it's annoying as heck. I wanted a small 4 pack of batteries and the kid hands me a form. I want four lousy batteries and hand him a $5 but he won't ring it up till I put down name and address and zip. After a brief "no thanks" just give me my change; he refuses till I fill out the form. Hmmmmmmmmm? So I write .. Bullwinkle J. Moose, Frostbite Falls MN, 00000. The kid starts screaming .. "You are not Bullwinkle" .. and of course I'm doing my moose voice. Never did get the batteries.

Skip that is a great story. My wife does stuff like that to annoying phone callers. Have a great weekend.

Oh! Your comment was as they say in London, "spot on" old bean.

The Bullwinkle thing in the docs office was just this morning before I read your blog.

PS .. I think Top Road Barber Shop is still open. I get my scalping done now by one of your old Pine Street crew. Bobby Witkowski is a bit older than us and has a shop in Hopewell.

Skip I don't remember Bobby, the guy who did cut my hair was in the first chair the owner can't remember his name.

From what I can remember, the first chair was a balding fellow but I preferred Tony. Italian fellow with glasses and very chatty. Lenny was the owner and had that back room to himself.

Bobby Witkowski was in "The Nav" well before our time and I think he left the neighborhood shortly after. His dad Charlie was a Stanley's regular as was my dad.

I think that was the main reason we had a black and white TV for so long. Dad would announce going to watch the Yankee game "in color" over at Stanley's.

My post Navy haunt was Shorty's especially on Friday night. The Friday night (he really only cooked one night a week), dinner was superb. Start out with a bowl of home made snapper soup (he caught his own turtles), followed by a huge portion of fried flounder and fries.

Kind of neat with the snapper soup. Old Shorty gave me his 1929 Old Town cedar canoe one day and said he was thinking about selling it but he remembered my dad would occasionally help him at night on his turtle catching at night up a Carnegie Lake and Walker Gordon pond. This was not too long after my father passed.

Walker Gordon and the "roto-lactor", you have to remember that merry go round for cows.

PS .. another memory hit me today. Swimming holes! The rope at the Bakers Basin?

Skip: Lenny was the guy who cut my hair, but when I went there he had the first chair by the door. I remember Tony he cut my hair also. Did you ever have the fish and chips at Top Road? When I was in St. Hedwig's my mom would order them in the morning before work and I'd pick them up when dad came home at 5. Huge portion plus slaw and hot Italian bread and all for a $1.25 each.
