Luee

Luee
We adopted Luee from the Humane Society in 1996. He was 2 years old, but still a pup. He has slowed down a bit; his age is catching up to him. He is the best dog anyone could ever have. Luee had to be put to sleep on April 15, 2009. Rest in Peace Pup.

YOUR FAVORITE TOMATO PIE OR PIZZA JOINT

I want to try something with this new post. I'm starting to get hits on my site from all over the good old USA. I know most people like pizza or where I come from in Jersey we call it tomato pie. Readers, I want you to list your favorite pizza place and location and maybe a brief description of what makes it special. I figure if any of you visit one of cities listed, you can stop in for a pie. What do you have to lose, just a few minutes of your time. I'm going to list this post under the heading of Pizza/Tomato Pies and feel free to add to it at any time.

I'm starting it off with 3 places: Joey Z says
Trenton, NJ - DeLorenzo's for regular tomato pie and Nino's on Chambers St. for Sicilian pie.
Kissimmee, FL - LaForchetta on John Young Parkway.

There were the usual Trenton places like the two DeLorenzo or Schuster's or Papas, but for a North Trenton kid with no car:

Cashanni's by the Brunswick Theater.

Zefutti's on Olden by the old Capitol Sporting Goods.

Sams was up Princeton Avenue toward the Donelly Homes.

Mike's Steak House (screw "Philly Steaks"), made a good pie as well as a great steak sandwich.

What was the place next to the Olden Theater or Bob's Speed Shop? They made a killer good pie.

Burg this and Burg that!

How could we forget that little Saint James "Feast of Lights".

Over on Paul Avenue there was the other "Little Italy" and one of the thing I waited all year for was those sweet old Italian ladies making those mini pies ...

Deep fried pizza dough and they they would ladle on sauce and sprinkle on the cheese.

The sad part was you could only get them once a year.

Sorry for the multiple posts but when it came to food and being a kid in North Trenton in the 50's and 60's .... well OK, that is why I was a "bit pudgy" or "Husky" as the labels on clothes said back then.

Supersleuth, The pies at Cassianni's I remember as a little kid very good. The tomato pie place near the Olden Theater was Marucca's, they still have a place in Seaside on the boardwalk. OK we got this thing going, come on America if we hit the road we have to know where to go for food. Last nite on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives there was a Jewish Deli, Restaurant, Diner, made all kinds of food not only deli. It' located in Boynton Beach, FL that's near Boca Raton. The name is Flakowitz Deli, check it out on Yahoo. Keep the posts coming.
