LITTLE GREEN LEAFY BALLS

Good Morning Guys and Dolls:

Well I’m in my place with a sun shinny face (Yeah Right) good morning to you all. There is not one exciting thing happening around here right now. The sun is shining the weather should be nice and warm around the upper 70’s and I read NJ is getting ready for a three day winter storm. My thoughts go out to you guys up there, be careful on that ice.

I saw an article in the news today that the SAG Awards Show last night presented Ernest Borgnine with a “Life Time Achievement Award”, I’m glad they finally did he is 94 years old and a great actor what took them so long. I saw him in the Dirty Dozen the other night but it was ending near 1:00 a.m. and I was not about to stay up that long. One of my favorite movies was “Marty”; he played a great role and did receive an Oscar for his performance.

Like I said not much happening even regarding today’s holidays, however we are celebrating “NATIONAL BRUSSEL SPROUTS DAY” those little green leafy balls you hated as a kid. I was thinking of some of the foods I hated as a kid but like now. Today I like brussel sprouts not a lot but I like them. I also love spinach you could not get me to eat that when I was growing up but just call me Popeye today. I was never a fan of pork chops, lamb, pickled pigs feet and head cheese. Another thing I hate and that is Tofu it’s like eating a block of jellied fat. Here’s a sad true fact when I was a wee lad my parents use to go for a tomato pie at Cassianni’s across from the Brunswick Theater. Here is the strange part, I only liked the crust of the pie and finally learned to eat the rest of it about a year later and I’m glad I did they made a great tomato pie. Wheat germ and Granola Bars I consider those rabbit food, I’ll take a Nestles Crunch bar any day. I’m starting to get sarcastic and better say goodbye for now.

WEEKEND WISHES ALL

Happy Friday Speakies:

Just wanted to stop by and make my quick “Happy Weekend Wishes” to all my readers. I guess the only football on this weekend is the Pro Bowl from Hawaii, if nothing else is on I’ll tune in for a look to see the score. I’d like to say thank you to the readers asking how Roe is feeling, she is feeling better each day but it takes time. She will be attending a Scrapbooking Swarm this weekend with all her scrapper buddies, so have fun honey.

For my readers if you like bubble wrap and carnations you are in luck. This weekend we celebrate “BUBBLE WRAP DAY” AND “CARNATION DAY.” Carnations are Roe’s favorite flowers, they last a long time in a vase and come in many colors for her to enjoy.

Now for all those out there from Trenton or any of my readers who desire a great tasting cheeseburger, my blog buddy Mack posted this on his site yesterday. I had to write him and say don’t tease me; my mouth is watering for one of these right now. Here is a picture of a Rossi Cheeseburger with Cheddar and Onions. You can just feel your mouth drooling.

CRAPPER AND CAKE

Good Morning Guys and Dolls:

Happy Thursday to you all and hoping you had a pleasant and relaxing evening. To my readers in Jersey I know you got pounded with another snow storm; dig out and try to stay warm and safe. Two very interesting holidays today, one is food the other is of a great man and his contributions to one of life’s needed items. Today we celebrate “NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CAKE DAY” AND “NATIONAL TOILET DAY.”

Let’s deal with chocolate cake first, one of my favorite besides regular vanilla pound cake. I love chocolate cake but don’t eat a great deal of it any more. One thing about cakes for me is they have to be moist and not that dried out texture. Chocolate cake and a glass of milk is a nice evening treat. There was a chocolate cake I like when I was growing up but I can’t think of the name. It was rectangular shaped like a sponge and the texture was moist with white filling in the middle. I want to say it was made by Drake’s Cakes so any of my Speakies can come up with some names I would be grateful. So if you are a lover of chocolate and chocolate cake go out and get one today and enjoy the holiday.

Now a day to honor that Great Brit Thomas Crapper who was a plumber and founded the Thomas Crapper & Co. in London. Crapper did not invent the flush toilet but he did increase the popularity of the toilet and developed many related inventions. The quality of his products earned him and his company several Royal Warrants. Old Tom crapped out on January 27, 1910. Even though he did not invent the flush toilet his name will live on always, to me he is Mr. Toilet. How can I tell you to celebrate this great holiday the only thing I can say is “Take a Crap” for Thomas. To honor Tom the picture you see has a tree frog inside the toilet bowl. This was taken by Rosemary in our guest bathroom months ago, how the frog got in we will never know but have no fear frog lovers, I JoeyZ rescued the amphibian and set him free. ARE YOU READY FOR THIS ONE, “I DID NOT WANT A CROOKER IN MY CRAPPER.” BAROOM BOOM!

THE FASHION GURU REMEMBERS WHEN

Greetings on Hump Day Speakies:

Wild night in Florida yesterday, thunderstorms, lightening and tornadoes made for a fun evening, some areas are still recovering from the storms. I’m sure the weather here was seen across the US on the news or the Weather Channel. It is cloudy right now windy and looking like more rain; at least it’s not snow.

I had a chuckle this morning from a comment made by a co-worker yesterday. We are doing a collection for Cancer at work and there are coupons available for purchase for dress down day with the money going to Cancer research. Dress down usually means sport shirt and jeans, but my friend said what if his dress down was a Hawaiian shirt and shorts which brought a laugh from both of us. This got the old JoeyZ’s brain thinking of the fashion stuff I wore growing up and I’m sure if you are my age (and I’m not ancient) this might bring some memories back for you. Let’s bring back the good old days of fashion from being a kid to a teenager:

White tee shirt with a pocket and blue jeans the stiff ones.
A Davy Crockett tee shirt, come on you had one.
Ked’s sneakers either white or black and they only cost around $5.00 then.
Desert boots.
Madras shorts with penny loafers and no socks, worn with a button down shirt on the outside.
Dobie Gillis shirt that’s the shirt with ¾ sleeves (catch an old Dobie Gillis TV show and you’ll see it worn by the Dobie himself).
Stadium coats for the winter they had the toggle buttons. Mine was navy blue with a zipper at both ends so when you sat down just unzip the bottom for more comfort.
Boat neck shirts.
Clam diggers worn by both Guys and Dolls.
Tiki necklaces purchased on the boardwalk at Seaside Heights. These necklaces were made famous by the TV show Adventures in Paradise with Gardner McKay.
Nehru jackets.
Sport coats with no collars. My cousin Tom had a beige or gold colored one it looked sharp on him.
Sharkskin suits with fence climber shoes. Your shoes had to have cleats and Cuban heels.
Hi-Boy collared shirts for dress.

Well there you go Speakies some of the fashions I remember and wore. There must be plenty more out there so come on and comment I would like to see both Guys and Dolls but their fashion notes on this post. Have a great day and like always be careful out there.

STORMS, SALADS, PIZZA'S AND FINALLY THE DOG

Good Morning Guys and Dolls:

A cloudy day beckons you all from Sunny Florida. The forecast for today calls for storms with chances of hail and tornados and then a second wave will be approaching with more of the same so everyone down here and on vacation, take heed.

Last night I was thinking what I wanted for lunch today. I have a nice frozen meatloaf dinner in the freezer at work all ready but did I want soup instead. Not a problem I’ll take a can of soup with me just in case problem solved. A nice salad to go along with my main meal would be an added treat. Zipped in the kitchen, a fresh bag of lettuce was found in the refrigerator, a tomato was sliced, a little salt added with some fresh ground pepper and I now had a salad to take along. Roe suggested taking along some fresh cherries as a dessert, why not. Driving to work this morning and being three quarters of the way there I forgot the salad and cherries. I was not a very happy traveler from that point on as I could taste that salad with that Italian dressing I was planning to pour on. Oh well I guess it will have to be eaten at dinner instead.

As long as we are on food, last Friday Roe not having a pizza in a long time thought we would try a pie from Papa John’s. Roe recently being released from the hospital and me not wanting to drive during rush hour downtown to Al’s or my other favorite true Italian pizza joint went along with the idea. Arriving home from work the pizzas were sitting on top of the stove, a regular cheese and a pepperoni for me. I spied a look on Roe’s face it was that “THE PIZZA’S ARE NOT THAT GOOD LOOK”. I waited until I was nice and relaxed to give the pepperoni a try and found it tasteless, too much pepperoni, no flavor to the sauce or cheese and the dough was dry not even one drip of grease or oil. Needless to say Roe sent her complaint in via e-mail to old Papa John himself. Results to follow. Please we need a true tomato pie joint down here.

We have located a hotdog place in downtown here called Willy’s Wieners and they have that Famous Chicago Style Dog I’ve always wanted to try along with that Italian Beef Sandwich with Spicy Giardniera. I’ll be making a trip soon with the full report to follow.

FOOTBALL, SODA AND PEANUT BUTTER

Happy Monday Morning Speakies:

Hoping you all had a great weekend and enjoyed the games if you are a football fan. At least one of my teams won the “Pack is Back”, after all they beat the Eagles and I had to root for them. I was hoping the Jets would win but the ghost of “Broadway” Joe Namath did not show up for this one. As I was watching the games and somewhat dozing off at times I remembered some of the classic games I watched as a kid and when I was growing up in life. Back on December 26, 1960, I remember a big snow storm had hit the area a day or two before and the championship game was held on a Monday afternoon at Franklin Field. I recall being glued to the TV set and watching that exciting 17 to 13 Eagle win over the Packers. My favorite Eagle players were Norm VanBrocklin, Chuck Bednarik, Tom Brookshire and Tommy McDonald. I also remember those great playoff games of the NY Giants and Baltimore Colts. I even remember watching that game when Chuck Bednarik of the Eagles flattened Frank Gifford of the Giants who did not get off the field without help. Great old games played outdoors in the freezing cold and snow that was football at its finest.

My blog buddy Mack had posted over the weekend about one of our favorite sodas we enjoyed growing up in Trenton. Good old Kern’s Soda, great flavors and taste and they came in returnable bottles. Us kids loved them because you brought the empties back and you got cash for soda or candy. During summer vacations besides playing ball hunting for bottles was a part-time job.

Today as far as food goes it’s “NATIONAL PEANUT BUTTER DAY.” I prefer smooth over crunchy but to tell you the truth I was never a big peanut butter sandwich type kid. I mean I had a few peanut butter and jelly sandwiches but at Mom’s house if I wanted a sandwich it was baloney or if you remember this one veal loaf, similar to baloney and very good. Now one of my favorite peanut butter treats is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, love those, can’t have many but a couple a year crushes the craving. So if you are a big peanut butter fan go ahead and make that sandwich and celebrate the day like a kid again.

Happy Friday Speakies:

That last day of the work week is finally here, so grab your cup of coffee and sit back and smile. I fouled up on the holidays yesterday those holidays are really for celebration today. Oh what the heck we can celebrate them for two days everyone loves squirrels and hugs. Don’t forget you football fans have two great playoff games this weekend to view, so get your drinks and grub ready.

We do celebrate a holiday in which we all have a favorite interest in. This weekend is “PIE DAY.” I have several favorites myself apple, blueberry, key lime, lemon meringue, chocolate and good old pumpkin pie. I still love a good old Tasty Kake pie but they are hard to find down here. With the taste of pie in my brain all I have left to say is, “Guys and Dolls whatever you do this weekend, have fun and be careful out there.”

Good Morning Guys and Dolls:

Hoping you all had a pleasant Wednesday evening and are ready to start the day bright eyed and bushy tailed, yeah I hear you! Let me get my coffee first, that’s want I said this morning too. All I can say is let’s try to get this day started productively.

To start things off today I am awarding the “KNUCKLE HEAD OF THE DAY AWARD” to the new governor of Alabama on his inauguration day speech regarding Christians and being brothers and sisters. Where do they find politicians like this a relic from the dark ages? Enough said.

My blog buddy Mack is always posting about those good Italian restaurants we had in Trenton and we truly did. For burgers the one place to go was Rossi’s Tavern nothing like a Rossi burger for lunch or even dinner. The place was always packed, service great and the food excellent. Now another great place for a burger was Ernie’s Tavern in Robbinsville, NJ. When I worked in the insurance business we use to go to Ernie’s for lunch mostly every Friday afternoon. The burgers were delicious, big and with an ice cold beer made for that perfect lunch. So if you are ever in the Trenton area, try both Rossi’s and Ernie’s for a great burger. There is a picture of Ernie's posted on top.

I found two interesting holidays today to celebrate and here we go:

SQUIRREL DAY – Honoring those furry little things that run around in the park begging for nuts and running up and down trees. We have one at our house who always runs around on the screens of our sun porch and has the nerve to stare at you when you come outside. This day also honors my main squirrel “ROCKET J. SQUIRREL”, that famed squirrel from one of my favorite TV shows Rocky and Bullwinkle. Have a great day Rock!

NATIONAL HUG DAY – And with this holiday I will leave you, give the ones you love a big hug and then try hugging some strangers on the streets and see what happens. Have a great day and evening Speakies.

TAKE YOUR PICK TO CELEBRATE TODAY

Happy Wednesday Speakies:

Hope you guys in Trenton are thawing out from all that snow and ice I read about yesterday. I read the Trentonian every day on line and there are some strange stories happening up there. I guess every city has its crazies to contend with, Florida is no exception we probably have the most in US.

I was going to give you all a history lesson today to impress the little one but there is not much happening in history today so I thought we’d celebrate some more holidays on this 19th day of January, so let’s get started. Some of my favorites today are:

HAT DAY – I remember as a kid seeing practically every guy wearing a dress hat or cap on a regular basis. My Dad always had a nice felt hat to wear to church or when he got dressed up to go out. He also had one of those winter hats for work with the ear flaps. Today if I see a guy wearing one of those caps, carrying a rifle and wearing a life preserver I’m backing off far and I mean far away. As a kid I had one of those wool caps, baseball caps and my dress hat was a British racing cap. Loved those. How many guys of my age had the hat in the picture of this post, come on guys don’t be shy I know you did.

TIN CAN DAY – We can celebrate honoring tin cans or Navy destroyers take your pick.

PENGUIN AWARENESS DAY - Those funny little friends of ours dressed in tuxedos. The cutest little furry creatures around. I bet they could get pretty nasty too.

NATIONAL POPCORN DAY – Can’t really have the kind of popcorn I love, just plain popcorn with loads of butter, the kind you would get in the movies in that big bucket. Now its watch your fat intake and cholesterol. Hey Skip do you remember the 10 cent popcorn machine in Willets? You had to put the bag over the opening insert your dime and out came the popcorn.

Grab a drink and toast your favorite holiday today but most of all enjoy the day and be careful.

DUCK! MAKE MINE ROASTED CHICKEN

Back to Work Day Speakies:

Those 3 day weekends can be a killer and coming back to work is no fun after having one. The work load seems to be heavier and the mind is slower than usual. There were some great football games this weekend, glad to see the Jets win, all the favorites are getting knocked off early in these playoffs. I loved watching that Seahawks and Bears game with that snow coming down, that’s football at its finest.

Not much happening on the holidays today, but I discovered it is “NATIONAL PEKING DUCK DAY.” I had Peking duck many years ago and really enjoyed the crispy skin and the overall taste of the meat. It was prepared by a friend of mine who was in the Air Force Reserves stationed at McGuire AFB. He was a world traveler and a pretty good cook to boot. On one of the cruises Roe and I took one evening duck was on the menu, bad move on my part. I’m thinking if it tastes like the Peking duck I had why not give it a try, sorry I did, it was greasy tasting and had a very fatty texture, haven’t had duck since. There’s a Sam’s Club near our house and we love their roasted whole chicken we get about 2 meals from it and even homemade chicken soup now there is a feast for $4.99 a bird. While we are on the subject I am also a fan of Cornish game hens, when I eat those hens it’s like being Robin Hood eating at a Sherwood Forest banquet just rip off those legs and dive in. Well almost lunch time and I’m going to enjoy the rest of a great beef stew made by my daughter-in-law Elizabeth.

Just stopping by for a quick visit like I usually on Friday and hoping you all have a great weekend. This weekend we celebrate “DRESS UP YOUR PET DAY” and this Saturday it is the Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas. Now let JoeyZ get his two cents in on these events. First of all no pet wants to get dressed up in some goofy clown outfit or Santa suit. I also hate those dog sweaters on those little yapper type dogs. Why don’t you just put a Navy Pea Coat on them? If it’s raining buy them a London Fog trench coat. Dogs have fur that keeps them warm, if they get wet they shake it off. Can you imagine in ancient times dogs wearing caveman cloths or armor like a Roman soldier? Give a pooch a nice old soft throw rug to lie on and he is content.

Now this Miss America Pageant, when I was little it was always held in Atlantic City in September and in the Convention Center on the boardwalk. Bert Parks was the host, the girls came out in evening gowns, swim suits and displayed a little talent, like juggling or twirling something and finally answered some dumb question Bert threw out. You tried to pick out your winners, the winner was announced and good old Bert sang “Here She Comes Miss America.” Today it’s like a Las Vegas Show production, keep it simple I say. Bring it back to AC they could use the revenue.

While we are talking pageants have you ever seen the previews or watched that pageant show about those little girls trying to be little queens of beauty. The attitudes of those little girls and their parents make me want to throw up. First of all I would take those mothers and kick them in the butt for what they put those children through. As far as those little queens, take off that fancy dress, makeup and hair gel and force them to play in the mud and be the little ones that they are. Get dirty kids and then take a bath and play with some toys.

LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT

Good Morning Speakies:

A friend of mine sent me this as an e-mail and it is a beautiful story, so I thought I would share it with you this Thursday morning. Love this - I hope you do.

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck..

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.

At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full..

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water..

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.
But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do ha lf of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.

'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.'

The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?'

'That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the
path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.'

For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.

Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to
grace the house.'

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.

You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

Happy Happy Hump Day Guys and Doll:

Not much happening around here today so far, I see my readers in New Jersey and along the East coast are going through another snow storm. I really don’t miss that snow and ice one bit.

There are a couple of birthday wishes today. Born this date in 1935 “The Amazing Kreskin” and in 1944 Philly’s own Joe Frazier, you’re next Joe, you’re next. I would also like to extend “Happy Birthday” to all my Speakies celebrating theirs today.

We have a holiday to observe today and I would like to say thank you for a job well done with prompt, courteous and caring service to Leslie and Mary our Pharmacists here at Target in Central Florida. Today is “NATIONAL PHARMACIST’S DAY”, that day we honor all those pill pushers. Leslie and Mary are the sweetest and most professional pharmacists Roe and I have had, their understanding and service is impeccable. Now we’ve had some real grouches in our days of pill taking and I won’t mention what particular drug chain these peddlers of pills practiced their trade. I remember the days back in Trenton; we had a local family owned pharmacy called Episcopo’s. You would go in, drop off your prescriptions, talk to the old man he would answer any of your questions and if you wanted the pills delivered they were. Those good old days I fear are gone. I say Happy Holiday to those dedicated Pharmacists who practice the true meaning of their profession and make our lives a little easier when we are sick.

I also remember when I was little; we had two doctors the Franzoni Brothers who had their practice on the corner of Brunswick Ave. and Spruce Street. You were sick you went in no appointments they took you. I remember the many times I had a bad cold or flu, after hours, Dr. Carl Franzoni would come to the house to see me. My temperature was taken and I still can hear his famous words, “Roll over and pull your pajama pants down.” The next thing I remember was getting ready for that needle filled with make me feel better medicine making a direct hit into my butt cheeks. I bet you remember those days and those needles too.

Good Morning Speakies:

Happy Tuesday wishes to you all. Just wanted to let you readers know my Roe came home from the hospital yesterday and I wish for her a speedy recovery while resting at home. Thanks for all the get well wishes from my Guys and Dolls, especially Mack and Skip. Thanks to you all very much.

It looks like snow outside this morning those dark, grey, stormy clouds but temps are expected in the 70’s this afternoon with a cold front scheduled for this evening dropping temps into the upper 30’s. There is your weather forecast for Central Florida from Certified Weatherman JoeyZ.

Today we celebrate “MILK DAY” and I thank those cows for all the hard work they do and the dairy farmers who fill us with that Vitamin D wonder. Back in grammar school we had the choice of white milk, chocolate milk and orange drink every day. I remember paying every day for a bottle but can’t remember what the actual cost was then. Yes readers the milk was in a glass bottle with a paper cap as the bottle cover. My favorite was the chocolate milk with the orange drink running second. The white milk was my least favorite the taste always reminded me of milk of magnesia. I’m getting the shivers right now as I'm thinking of it. Those nuns really pushed that white milk they probably got a commission on the sale.

They also sold the Philadelphia style hot pretzels but believe me they were not hot, more like soft and soggy, but as a kid I loved them. Now those pretzels were the long version not the regular pretzel shaped. Memories flow back when you celebrate those odd holidays like today.

DON'T START WITH ME TODAY

Good Monday Morning Guys and Doll:

Hope you all had a good weekend; it was a bad day for us Eagle fans, the big one always slips away it seems for them Boids. Better luck next year guys, you need some defensive help and choose wisely in the draft this year. I was watching the local news this morning and saw that Atlanta got about 4 inches of snow and has halted the entire city and state of Georgia. You cannot believe how many flights to Orlando have been cancelled this morning as a result of this storm system. I just checked out the weather for Trenton, NJ and it looks like you guys are expecting a snow storm starting tomorrow good luck and fair weather I hope.

It’s only the second week in January and maybe I’m getting older but things are starting to piss me off already in the New Year. First things first, guys don’t wear baseball caps in restaurants, take them off, didn’t your mom teach you any manners and secondly don’t wear them backwards or sideways, you look like something from the 1940 Dead End Kids Movies. If you think you look cool forget it, start your own trend, wear a fedora with jeans and a flannel shirt make your own fashion statement. Here’s another thing, wearing your pants half way down your ass, I wish they had an Ass Patrol that would go around and yank them down, snap a picture and post it all over the news and show your shortcomings. Here’s another one of my favorites, these so called Christian pastors who molest children, you hear it on the news down here every week, I wish I was a judge for a few days and there were no prisons just my kind of punishment.

Guess what today is? It is “NATIONAL BEAN DAY.” Those lovely little beans that give you gas all day long, but forget the gas today and enjoy the beans. Let’s remember that little song we all knew and sang as kids:

Its fun remembering things you sang and did as a kid. Let me think of the kind of beans I like to eat. Number one has to be Pork and Beans, great with dogs and burgers, Sloppy Joes, Mac and Cheese. Pork and Beans is a number one fusion bean. Kidney beans great in chili. Garbanzo beans love those in salads or just plain out of the can. Lima beans great buttery taste put in a little fried bacon and serve them as a side dish. Split peas great for pea soup with carrots, ham and potatoes, my Mother use to make a great pea soup. Here is a little tidbit for you, did you know Black beans are considered to be one of the Top Ten Brain Foods. So get those kids started eating beans and on the highway to Smartsville.

Happy Hump Day Speakies:

Well another Hump Day is upon us and I hope the work day flies by for all of you today. It’s a pretty boring day here in Central Florida, the skies are partly cloudy and the temperatures should reach the mid 70’s today. This time of the year really sucks for time off. Most of us will have one holiday in January, Martin Luther King’s Birthday, some may have President’s Day in February but after that the next holiday is Memorial Day in May. That is a long time between holidays for us working Speakies.

I did locate a holiday for us to celebrate today, “NATIONAL BIRD DAY.” A day we recognize and honor our fine little feathered friends. I think most of those birds are here in Florida enjoying the warmer weather and dropping their loads on all the cars around. Speaking of birds, I love that window cleaning commercial with those two crows laughing at that idiot husband who walks into the patio door because it’s so clean. We also have that great movie “THE BIRDS” placing fear in that small California town by attacking anyone who walks, crawls or steps out into the open.

Speaking of birds, I want to wish my Eagles good luck on Sunday against them Cheese Head Packers. GO BOOOOOOOOOOOID'S. Well I’m going to say goodbye for now, have a great day and like I said I will try to keep in touch as much as I can this week.

Hoping you all had a pleasant evening and are ready to begin a new day. It’s cloudy and dreary here in Central Florida but highs are expected to be near 70 today with lows in the upper 40’s. Seems most of the tourists are departing except the visitors from Europe who constantly visit the area.

Today we celebrate the birthday of Sir Isaac Newton the famed English physicist, mathematician, astronomer, philosopher, alchemist and theologian. He is considered one of the most influential people in human history. In his writings Newton described universal gravitation and the laws of motion. He also according to legend got whacked in the head with an apple sitting under a tree which started him wondering about the law of gravity. Happy Birthday Sir Isaac.

Stopped at the hospital after work last night and paid Roe a visit, she is in good spirits but still fighting that infection but with the care she is receiving and the medication, hoping she will be getting stronger soon. For those who read her Creative Liberties Blog, she says hello to all her readers and is still posting a little bit. My girl has great faith and strength and will not quit doing her thing. Love you Babe.

Welcome to the New Year and another work week begins. Hoping you all had a great weekend along with a grand New Year’s Eve and Day celebration. Kind of quite around JoeyZ’s house, Roe is in the hospital so not much celebrating done at home, I hoping she will be home soon but that’s up to the doctors in charge.

We have an interesting holiday today, “NATIONAL CHOCOLATE COVERED CHERRY DAY.” I still have a box of Cella’s sitting in my refrigerator. They are my favorite, served cold of course. So if you have any, please pick one out that package and enjoy that chocolate covered cherry today.

It’s going to be a hectic time for me while Roe is in the hospital and my writing might not appear every day, but keep checking the site, I love having my Guys and Dolls stopping by. Have a great day and evening.
