Good Morning and Happy Friday:
Well Speakies it is Friday and I hope the day is sweet and fast. I read there is a holiday today called, “Gorgeous Grandmother Day.” I had to do some reading on this one to update myself concerning this holiday. What it really boils down to is that all Grandmothers should consider themselves gorgeous, not to look back on the past but towards the future. Do the things they want to do and just enjoy life to the fullest. That sounds good to me. I know that’s the way my wife Rosemary lives her life and I’m proud of her in every way. I wish at times I had the energy to do the same. So to all you Grandmothers out there, get on the stick and start to enjoy those golden years ahead and not worry about life’s little ups and downs.
I’d like to wish “Happy Birthday” to all my Guys and Dolls who are celebrating it today and this weekend. Enjoy and have a piece of cake for me. We have some famous birthdays today dead and alive.
Arthur Treacher – Announcer for Merv Griffin Show. He opened a chain of Arthur Treacher’s Fish and Chips. We had several stores back in Trenton, NJ; I know Roe use to eat at the one uptown when she worked in the city. Good Fish and Chips.
A couple of pro baseball players today, Pee Wee Reese and Don Drysdale.
Don Imus – Radio Man, had a great show in the 60’s and 70’s. Changed his style later.
Finally Woody Harrelson – That bartender from Cheers. Plays some strange bird characters in many films.
Have a great weekend gang, have loads of fun but be careful out there.

I still remember the first time I heard Imus. It was a Sunday morning and I was tooling up Rt. 130 toward Robbinsville in my hot rod Corvair. Yeah, pretty fast with the Bill Thomas race kit. Air cleaner reads (stock), 150hp but it was over 200.
Anyhow, Imus is doing a thing ..
"This is the Reverend Billy Soul Argus, here in Del Rio Texas bringing Jesus right to you from our DRIVE IN CHURCH AND BAPTISMAL CAR WASH .. "
I did not catch right on because it was a spoof on Billy Sol Estes and on Sunday there were a lot of Bible stations. It took a minute, I was a little slow.

Hi Skip: That was his favorite spoof.
I don't care if it rains or freezes, long as I have my plastic Jesus hanging from the dash board of my car. I can go 100 miles an hour long as I have that almighty power.
He was funny but turned out to be a strange one now.
Agree fully. I can't figure out his market audience. It's not me.
Here is one you will remember. Ho, ho ... your sparked a good one.
WBUD in the evenings .. late 50's .
Joe Pine and "Controversy" that had to be the first of the shock jocks, not lewd but he struck hot buttons.
I remember one show where .. and this related to the Imus thing ..
Pine tells a woman caller who is PO'd .. "Lady look at that box in front of you. That's right, the radio, now it has two knobs and you should use one. If you don't like what you hear, turn the radio off" .. something close to that anyway .. oh the shock of Mom and the elders.
People were so polite then I guess but you could kind of tell they loved it?
All the best .. and you know if you played ball at Penn Fruit ... say 1960 to maybe 1966 that we were in a game together.
Me .. Ken Spalluto, Joe Zebrowski (family owned Genny's on Heil and Ellis), Bob Bugdal of course, Bruce "Vinslowski", Bob Zegarski, Tom and Dave Millinowicz?
I wish I could remember them all but I guess we usually had about 6 to 7 per team. A lot of games had a catcher from the team batting?

Skip, Man you bring back the memories, Joe Pine most hated man in Trenton radio. Remember old Bernie Kosnowski's Polish Hour on Sunday mornings, my mom had that on faithfully every Sunday. Talking about that baseball team you had, of course I remember Bob, I knew Dave Millinowicz, did they call Bob Zegarski "Ziggy". I remember Joe Zebrowski, if its him we were in the same class at St. Hedwig's. Did you know Gene Modjelewski who lived on Ohio Ave.
Did you ever hand out at the Brunswick Drug store, there was a bunch of us there in high school. Charlie Pluta worked there, I remember Jack Shesko and I believe his friend Rich who lived on Ellis Ave., his father was confined to a wheelchair. Keep bringing back those memories Skip.
