Luee

Luee
We adopted Luee from the Humane Society in 1996. He was 2 years old, but still a pup. He has slowed down a bit; his age is catching up to him. He is the best dog anyone could ever have. Luee had to be put to sleep on April 15, 2009. Rest in Peace Pup.

RESTAURANT REVIEW TIME

HELLO SPEAKIES AND FOOD LOVERS ACROSS THE WORLD:

AS I PROMISED I WOULD WRITE A REVIEW ON ALL THE LOCAL RESTAURANTS ROE AND I DINED IN.  IF YOU ARE A LOCAL LIKE US OR A VISITOR FROM THE U.S. OR ANY COUNTRY, TAKE HEED TO MY REVIEWS.  SO FAR WE FOUND THE BEST PIZZA AND THAT IS "BROOKLYN PIZZA", ON FAIRBANKS AVENUE, IN WINTER PARK, FL.  JUST GREAT.  THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD TO US IS AZTECA MEXICAN RESTAURANT ON SOUTH ORANGE BLOSSOM TRAIL.  THERE IS ANOTHER ONE WE NEED TO TRY OUT AND THAT IS PACO'S IN WINTER PARK, JUST DOWN THE ROAD FROM BROOKLYN PIZZA.  SO THERE YOU HAVE A FEW.

ONCE IN AWHILE MY STOMACH CRAVES GERMAN FOOD AND ESPECIALLY MY FAVORITE DISH SAUERBRATEN, WHICH IS BEEF MARINATED IN VINEGAR AND SPICES THEN OVEN ROASTED SERVED WITH ITS GRAVY.  ON THURSDAY ROE AND I HAD TO TRY A PLACE I'VE READ ABOUT AND WHEN I CHECKED THEIR WEBSITE MY FAVORITE DISH WAS LISTED.  HERE IS THEIR ADDRESS FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LOVE GERMAN CUISINE.

BAUERN-STUBE GERMAN RESTAURANT
8015 S. ORANGE AVE.
ORLANDO, FL 32809
407-857-8404

WHEN WE ENTERED THE RESTAURANT IT REMINDED ME OF A QUAINT GERMAN INN SMALL AND COMFORTABLE.  THERE WERE  PICTURES, FIGURINES, PHOTOS, CLOTHING, HATS YOU NAME IT AND IT IS THERE.  BEING IT WAS LUNCH TIME WE WERE SEATED WITH NO PROBLEM BY A YOUNG LADY WHO WAS NEW, BUT VERY PLEASANT.  SAUERBRATEN WAS NOT ON THE LIMITED LUNCH MENU BUT AVAILABLE ON THE DINNER MENU; I HAD TO HAVE IT.  I ORDERED IT ALONG WITH RED CABBAGE AND FRIED POTATOES AND A GLASS OF ICE WATER TO WASH IT DOWN.  ALONG SIDE OF ME WERE PICTURES OF GERMAN BEERS, I TOLD ROE SAUERBRATEN WITH NO BEER IS A SIN.  I ORDERED A 1/2 LITER OF PAULANER A LIGHT LAGER THAT WAS VERY GOOD.  NORMALLY I'M NOT A BEER CONNOISSEUR DRINKING BUD LIGHT TO ME IS A GOOD BEER.  ROE DECIDED TO TRY THE HUNGARIAN GOULASH WITH THE SPATZLES AND GREEN BEANS.  WHEN WE ENTERED THE RESTAURANT WE QUESTIONED THE WAITRESS ABOUT THE $4.95 LUNCH SPECIALS SHE SAID THERE WERE NONE.  KNOWING ROE SHE TOLD THE WAITRESS THAT THE SIGN SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN DOWN.

SITTING AND CHATTING WE WERE APPROACHED BY THE OWNER, BARBARA, WHO CAME TO OUR TABLE AND EXPLAINED THAT THE LUNCH SPECIAL WAS THE GOULASH SOUP SERVED DAILY. A FEW MINUTES LATER  WE SEE BARBARA APPROACHING AND SERVING ROE A COMPLIMENTARY BOWL OF THE GOULASH SOUP WHICH WAS DELICIOUS AND FOR ME A LENTIL SOUP WITH SAUSAGE.  WHAT A SURPRISE!  ONE DOES NOT SEE SERVICE LIKE THAT OFTEN.  THE MEAL WAS GREAT AND I EVEN HAD A PIECE OF SAUERBRATEN LEFT OVER WHICH BARBARA TOOK, PUT GRAVY ONE IT AND TOPPED IT WITH SAUERKRAUT FOR DINNER LATER ON.  SHE WAS OVER AT THE TABLE SEVERAL TIMES AND MADE US LAUGH SO HARD WITH HER HUMOR AND KIND WORDS.  SHE ASKED ME IF I WAS EVER IN THE SERVICE, WHICH I REPLIED, YES. BECAUSE I WAS A VETERAN SHE OFFERED ME A PIECE OF CAKE OF MY CHOICE.  UNABLE TO EAT ANOTHER BITE, I ASKED THAT SHE CHOOSE ONE FOR ME SO I WOULD ENJOY IT LATER IN THE EVENING.  I HAVEN'T TRIED IT YET, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE ONE DELICIOUS CHOCOLATE CAKE. AFTER LUNCH WE WERE GIVEN TWO COMPLEMENTARY SCHNAPPS TOPPED WITH WHIPPED CREAM AND CHOCOLATE RAISINS.  ONE COULD NOT FIND AN OWNER AND A HOSTESS SUCH AS BARBARA THESE DAYS. WHEN I FIRST ASKED HER NAME SHE SAID BARBARA ALSO KNOWN AS "BRUNHILDA."

THIS IS A DEFINITE GOING BACK PLACE TO ENJOY FOOD. THEY ALSO HAVE LIVE MUSIC ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS.  SO IF YOU LIKE ENJOYING MUSIC, DRINK AND FOOD FROM THE FATHER LAND THIS COULD BE YOUR PLACE TO PARTY.

THANKS BARBARA AND TO ALL YOUR STAFF,
ROSEMARY AND JOE.

WAITING FOR NUMBER 100

GUYS AND DOLLS:

WHO WILL BE NUMBER 100?????

I USUALLY DO NOT CHECK MY VISITOR COUNT DAILY.  I NOTICED THAT I HAVE 99 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES ACROSS THE WORLD WHO HAVE VISITED.  SOMEONE OUT THERE HAS TO MAKE IT NUMBER 100.

MAKE IT YOUR CITY AND COUNTRY, YOU WON'T WIN ANYTHING BUT I WILL ACKNOWLEDGE YOU AS A MILESTONE IN MY BLOG.

THANKS TO ALL YOU READERS AND REMEMBER YOUR COMMENTS ARE ALWAYS APPRECIATED AND NEEDED WHETHER IS LIKE THEM OR NOT.

WEEKEND WISHES GUYS AND DOLLS

HAPPY FRIDAY AND A HAPPY WEEKEND TO COME TO ALL MY SPEAKIES:

RAISE YOUR GLASSES TO THE FOLLOWING HOLIDAYS TODAY:

ASK A STUPID QUESTION - ALL I CAN SAY TO THAT IS GIVE A STUPID ANSWER.  I.E. WHY IS THE SKY BLUE DADDY?  BECAUSE IT'S NOT GREEN SEE WHAT I MEAN. LET THE STUPID QUESTIONS COME AND BLAST THEM WITH STUPID ANSWERS.  AMEN TO THIS HOLIDAY.

TEACHER'S DAY - TO ME ONE OF THE HARDEST PROFESSIONS IN ALL TO PURSUE.   POOR SALARY, LONG HOURS AND THAT INCLUDES WORKING AT HOME AND ALL OF US KNOW THE BULLSHIT THEY PUT UP WITH.  THIS NOT ONLY COMES FROM STUDENTS, BUT SCHOOL BOARDS AND OF COURSE THEIR OWN ADMINISTRATION.  ALL TEACHERS DESERVE CREDIT FOR A JOB WELL DONE AND I'M PROUD TO HONOR THEM TODAY.  SORRY IF I TELL THE TRUTH IN MY POSTS AND IF I POST A FEW INAPPROPRIATE WORDS I HAVE THAT RIGHT.  GO TEACHERS FROM JOEY Z!

GONE-TO-POT-DAY - I DON'T MEAN PUTTING A POT ROAST IN FOR DINNER.  JOEY Z IS TALKING FUBAR AND TO BE POLITE IT IS "FOULED UP BEYOND ALL RECOGNITION."  YOU SERVICE GUYS KNOW WHAT THE TRUE MEANING OF FUBAR IS!

NOW LET'S TALK FOOD AND DRINK:

CHOCOLATE MILK DAY - STILL MY FAVORITE JUST AS A MILK DRINK.  NOW IF YOU LIKE RING DINGS, TASTY KAKES OR FUNNY BONES ONLY WHITE MILK WILL DO.

CORNED BEEF HASH DAY - WHEN I WAS IN THE SERVICE I NEVER TRIED SHIT ON A SHINGLE OR CORNED BEEF ON ITS OWN.  NOW I LOVE HASH BUT PREFER ROAST BEEF HASH TO CORNED BEEF.  LAY A LITTLE SCRAMBLED EGGS AND POTATOES AND THERE IS A BREAKFAST TO BE DESIRED.

STRAWBERRY CREAM PIE DAY - YOU CAN HAVE IT, I LOVE TRADITIONAL PIES MYSELF.

HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY, WONDERFUL WEEKEND AND SOON TO RETURN WILL BE ZIP'S QUIPS.

ONE HIT WONDERS AND CRABS

HELLO SPEAKIES:

"ONE HIT WONDERS", HOW MANY WERE THERE?  PROBABLY THOUSANDS SINCE MUSIC BEGAN.  WHEN EVER I HEAR THEM IT STILL BRINGS BACK MEMORIES TO ME.
IT DOES NOT ONLY INCLUDE MY GENERATION BUT FROM THE 80'S, 90'S AND TODAY FOR THOSE WHO LOVE ONE TIME WONDERS.  MY FAVORITES ARE STILL 50'S AND 60'S, BECAUSE I GREW UP IN THOSE YEARS.  MUSIC IS OURS ENJOY THE SONGS YOU LOVE.

COMIC BOOK DAY - BIG BUSINESS NOW, GROWING UP I READ COMBAT, SUPERMAN AND NEVER SAVED ONE BOOK TO MAKE IT RICH ONE DAY.  HOW MANY OF YOU OUT THERE HAD TO DO A BOOK REPORT AND READ "CLASSIC COMICS?"  I DID AND NEVER RECEIVED A GRADE LOWER THAN A OR B.  DON'T TELL THE KIDS.

SIGHT SAVING MONTH - GET THOSE EYES CHECKED, ALONG WITH THE LITTLE ONE'S EYES.  YOU MAY HAVE A PROBLEM AND DON'T PASS IT ALONG.

CRAB NEWBERRY DAY - SOUNDS LIKE A SALAD TO ME, WHICH I LIKE.  ONE DAY I AM GOING TO HAVE A SOFT SHELL CRAB SANDWICH AT ONE OF THE LOCAL SEAFOOD RESTAURANTS DOWN HERE.

THAT IS IT FOR TODAY, HAVE A GREAT ONE.

THE FIRST ZIP'S QUIP IS HERE

I AM SEEKING YOUR  ZIPSTER'S FEELINGS ON THIS NEW SECTION OF MY BLOG.  YOU ARE STILL MY GUYS AND DOLLS, SPEAKIES AND WHATEVER YOU THINK YOU ARE.  ZIP'S QUIPS MAYBE ANY THING I WRITE!  A QUOTATION, A JOKE OR WHATEVER MY BRAIN SENDS TO ME.

TODAY A  QUOTE FROM A LEADER LONG AGO, JULIUS CAESAR.

"VENI, VEDI, VECI."  -  I CAME, I SAW, I CONQUERED!
ANOTHER WRITING OF HIS WORDS ARE LISTED BELOW, HEED TO THESE, DO THEY REFER TO OUR TIMES TODAY.   YOU BE THE JUDGE!!!!!

“Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar.”

SAME OLD CRAP AND GETTING MY GANDER AGAIN

I KEEP GETTING COMMENTS WITH ADVERTISEMENT PURPOSES ONLY.  TO THOSE WHO SEND ME THIS JUNK, I AM NOT IN FAVOR OF CIGARETTE ADVERTISING.  I OVERCAME CANCER FROM IT  YEARS AGO.  DO YOU SEE ME ADVERTISING ON MY BLOG?  HELL NO!  IF YOU LIKE MY BLOG WRITE A COMMENT AND SIGN YOUR NAME, I DON'T CARE IF IT IS FAKE.  MY BLOG IS WRITTEN FOR MY GUYS AND DOLLS WHO ENJOY IT FOR WHAT IT IS MEANT TO BE.  FUN.

KISS AND EAT

SPEAKIES:

DON'T BE SAD THAT IT IS MONDAY.  TELL YOU SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU HAPPY YES, "KISS DAY IS TODAY."  KISS THE ONES YOU LOVE OR ROAM THE EARTH IN SEARCH OF THOSE WHO WANT TO BE SMOOCHED UPON.  LOCK LIPS, PROBE A LITTLE TONGUE AND ENJOY TODAY.  COULD BE A LUCKY DAY KISSING THE ONE YOU FOUND.  I HAVE A LITTLE PROBING MYSELF TO DO.

DO YOU REMEMBER "ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE SHOW?"  WELL GOOD OLD BULLWINKLE MADE HIS DEBUT TODAY IN 1961.  I WAS A FRESHMAN IN HIGH SCHOOL AND TRULY ENJOYED THAT SHOW.  IT WAS NOT A CARTOON MEANT FOR THE WEE ONES AT ALL BUT FOR US WHO COULD SEE THE MEANING OF THE WORDS.
I STILL LOVE BORIS AND NATASHA, "LET'S GET MOOSE AND SQUIRREL."  THANKS BULLWINKLE FOR ALL THOSE GREAT SHOWS AND I WILL NEVER FORGET FROSTBITE FALLS, MINNESOTA.

A VERY IMPORTANT DAY TODAY THAT I THINK A LOT OF US FORGET ABOUT.  "EAT DINNER WITH YOUR FAMILY TODAY."  PERSONALLY I WAS VERY GUILTY ABOUT THIS IN MY PAST YEARS.  MY EXCUSES WERE, "I'M NOT HUNGRY OR I ATE A LATE LUNCH."  NOW I SAY BULLSHIT AND PARDON MY FRENCH.  IF I COULD MAKE UP THOSE DAYS TO SIT DOWN EAT WITH ROE AND MY BOYS AND TALK ABOUT THE THINGS OF THE DAY I WOULD GLADLY BRING THEM BACK.  NOW WHEN I CAN MY FAMILY EATS TOGETHER AND I REALIZE WHAT I REALLY MISSED IN THE YEARS THAT PAST.  FORGET ABOUT GOING OUT FOR DRINKS WITH BOYS AFTER WORK, OR I HAVE A LADIES CLUB FLOWER EVENT.  SIT DOWN AND EAT, REMEMBER A FAMILY COMES FIRST.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST "CHERRIES JUBILEE DAY."  I HAD THOSE FIRST ON A CRUISE AND REALLY ENJOYED.  LOOKING FORWARD TO IT AGAIN.  HAVE A GREAT DAY

GETTING MY ROYAL GANDER

I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING E-MAILS ABOUT HOW GLAD THE PEOPLE LOVE MY SITE.  THEN IT TURNS INTO AN ADVERTISEMENT PLUG.  I WRITE MY BLOG FOR MY READER'S ENJOYMENT AND FOR ME A PERSONAL SATISFACTION.
ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS THIS:

IF YOU WANT TO COMMENT, PUT YOUR NAME ON IT, AND DON'T INCLUDE YOUR COMMERCIAL WEBSITE, I DON'T NEED IT.  THIS IS FOR MY GUYS AND DOLLS  WHO CARE ABOUT THIS SITE.  IF IT WAS NOT FOR THEIR COMMENTS I WOULD STOP THIS SITE, GOT IT ADVERTISERS.  I DON'T NEED YOU PUMPING YOUR BUSINESS ON MY PAGE.

HONOR THY ELDERS

YES GUYS AND DOLLS:

THIS IS NOT AN AMERICAN HOLIDAY.  "RESPECT YOUR ELDERS DAY" IT IS CELEBRATED IN JAPAN.  THERE ARE PROBABLY A LOT OF AMERICAN ATTITUDES (AND YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN PEARL HARBOR AND ALL THAT) TO JAPAN.  I LOOK UPON THIS DAY THAT IS SOMETHING WE DO NOT OBSERVE IN THE U.S., RESPECT TO OUR ELDERS AND NOW THAT I AM ONE OF THEM ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS.  BACK IN LATE AUGUST I WATCHED THE LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES AND SAW THE RESPECT THAT THE LITTLE JAPANESE PLAYERS SHOWED TO THE OTHER TEAMS AND THE UMPIRES.  NOW I TAKE A LOOK AT OUR COUNTRY, RESPECT FOR ELDERS (MAKES ME SICK).  TAKE AWAY SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE AND LET THE ELDERLY SUFFER WHILE THE RICH AND YOU KNOW WHAT PARTY I'M TALKING ABOUT AND IF YOU DON'T GET YOU HEADS OUT OF YOUR BUTTS.  HAVE WE LOST RESPECT FOR OUR ELDERLY PEOPLE IS THERE ANY HOPE OF THE DAYS GONE BY?  I WAS RAISED TO HELP SOMEONE OLDER THAN I WAS GROWING UP.  COME ON WE REMEMBER HOW IT WAS TO HELP CARRY PACKAGES OR HELP GRANDMOMS OR GRANDPOPS WALK ACROSS THE STREET TO SAFETY.  PLEASE GUYS AND DOLL BRING BACK THOSE DAYS, IT IS NOT ONLY FOR THE ELDERLY TODAY BUT FOR YOUR FUTURE IN THE DAYS TO COME AND YOUR CHILDREN'S FUTURE.  DO NOT SUBMIT TO THE RICH AND IGNORANT OF AMERICA TODAY.

PUTT-PUTT DAY - AFTER THAT FIRST THOUGHT I'M TIRED.  TAKE THE LITTLE ONES FOR A DAY OF FUN AND REMEMBER THOSE DAY YOU PLAYED THE GAME WHEN LIFE WAS SIMPLE AND YOU FELT SAFE.  YOU ALSO HAD A FEW EXTRA BUCKS IN YOUR POCKET TO DO THIS THEN.  JOEY Z SAYS WHAT HE FEELS AND THAT WILL ALWAYS BE ME ON THIS BLOG.

HAVE A GREAT DAY.

A LITTLE CHICKEN AND A LITTLE RUM

HELLO GUYS AND DOLLS:

TODAY I NATIONAL PUNCH DAY.  DOES THAT MEAN I PUNCH YOU AND YOU PUNCH ME BACK OR DO WE DRINK TO THE OCCASION.  I THINK THE LATER, A GOOD RUM PUNCH.  I GUESS MY FAVORITE RUM IS BACARDI'S NATURAL, BUT IN ST. MAARTEN ROE AND I FOUND A GREAT LOCAL VANILLA RUM CALLED MA DOUDOU SO SMOOTH AND WITH A VANILLA FLAVOR.  THIS ONE IS BEST DRINKING IT STRAIGHT.  THEY ALSO HAVE VARIOUS FLAVORS BUT VANILLA IS OUR FAVORITE.  CHECK THE WEBSITE OUT.

CHICKEN DANCE DAY - US POLAKS TAKE THE CREATION OF THIS DANCE.  I REMEMBER MY MOM TAKING MY SONS TO ST. HEDWIG' S FOR A POLISH FESTIVAL AND THEM DANCING THE CHICKEN DANCE LIKE PRO'S WHEN THEY WERE LITTLE.  MY MOM THANK GOD DID A LOT FOR MY SONS WHEN THEY WERE SMALL.  I'M ONLY SORRY SHE NEVER LIVED TO SEE THEM GROW UP AND HAVE GREAT-GRAND KIDS.  SHAKE A TAIL FEATHER IN HEAVE MOM.

THAT IS ALL FOR TODAY, HAVE A GREAT ONE.

ARRRGH AND MOVE HANDSOMELY

AHOY! MATES AND LADY MATIES:

NO I'M NOT CRACKING UP TODAY!  IT IS "TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY."  FILL YOUR MUGS WITH GROG AND GIVE A GOOD CHEER FOR JOEY Z "THE CORSAIR IS HERE", (IT IS A ROMANTIC TERM FOR A PIRATE OR I COULD BE A BUCCANEER, A CARIBBEAN PIRATE).  TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH I'D RATHER JUST BE JOEY Z.  IF YOU ARE INTO PIRATES ENJOY THE DAY AND IF YOU EVER VISIT ST. AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA, THEY HAVE A PIRATE'S CRUISE WITH ALL THE RUM PUNCH YE CAN DRINK.  CHECK IT OUT.

CHANGING OVER TO FOOD NOW, SEPTEMBER IS "NATIONAL POTATO MONTH."  SO MANY VARIETIES TO CHOOSE FROM.  WE HAVE IDAHO, RUSSETS, YUKON GOLDS, SWEET POTATOES, RED-SKINNED, BLUE AND PURPLE, ROUND WHITE AND THE LIST GOES ON.  NOW HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR POTATOES IS THE QUESTION?  HERE IS JOEY Z'S LIST:

FRENCH FRIES - PREFER STEAK FRIES, CURLY FRIES AND JUST HAD NATHAN'S FROZEN FRIES (GOOOD).  PLEASE NO SHOE STRING FRIES!  I STILL MISS THOSE FRENCH FRIES ON THE BOARDWALK AT SEASIDE HEIGHTS IN A CONE CUP.
THE BEST WERE GRANNY O'S FRIES SERVED WITH SALMON CAKES ON A FRIDAY NIGHT.

HASH BROWNS WITH PEPPERS AND ONIONS OF COURSE.

FRIED POTATOES - MY DAD MADE THE BEST, HE MUST HAVE PASSED HIS SECRET TO ROE BECAUSE HER'S ARE GREAT.

MASH POTATOES WITH LOADS OF GRAVY AND A FEW LUMPS.

SWEET POTATOES ON THANKSGIVING ONLY.

POTATO SALAD - I HAVEN'T FOUND A GREAT ONE SINCE MOM AND GRANNY PASSED AWAY, BUT MY POLISH FRIEND DANUTA MADE ME SEE THE LIGHT OF THE POTATO AGAIN WITH HERS.  ALL I CAN SAY IS, "DOBRE PANI."

LAST BUT NOT LEAST A GOOD BAKED POTATO WITH SOUR CREAM.

I GAVE YOU MY FAVORITES, COME ON AND GIVE ME YOURS.  FOR THE REST OF THE DAY TALK LIKE A PIRATE AND EAT POTATOES.  HAVE A GREAT DAY.

HAPPY MONDAY SEPTEMBER 17, 2012

HAPPY MONDAY SPEAKIES:

GOING TO MAKE A QUICK STOP TODAY AND GIVE YOU A FEW HOLIDAYS TO RAISE YOUR MUGS TO TODAY AND THIS MONTH.

THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE IS THE AERIAL WARFARE SERVICE OF THE US ARMED FORCES.  IT WAS INITIALLY PART OF THE US ARMY, THE USAF WAS FORMED AS A SEPARATE BRANCH OF THE MILITARY ON SEPTEMBER 18, 1947.  I HAVE TO SAY I WAS A MEMBER OF THAT BRANCH OF SERVICE DURING THE VIETNAM WAR AND WAS TO PROUD TO SERVE OUR COUNTRY DURING THAT TIME.  MY VIEWS HAVE CHANGED BUT THAT IS A DIFFERENT SUBJECT TO ADDRESS LATER.

TIME'S UP DAY - THIS COULD MEAN AN ANYTHING HOLIDAY.  DO YOU OWE PEOPLE, DO THEY YOU?  HAVE YOU GIVEN AN ULTIMATUM FOR ANYTHING NOT SOLVED?  WHAT A DAY THIS COULD BE!  TO ME, "I KNOW NOTHING."

STUDENT DAY - TO ALL YOU LITTLE ONES IN GRAMMAR SCHOOL.  THOSE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL, HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE SUCCEED IN YOUR STUDIES AND ENJOY YOUR PATHS OF LIFE.  JOEY Z IS PROUD OF ALL MY STUDENTS.

FINALLY A "DAY OF ACTION FOR HUMAN HABITAT." - I THINK OF ALL THOSE WHO DON'T HAVE A DECENT PLACE TO LIVE DUE TO LOSING THEIR JOBS, ILLNESS OR WHATEVER OCCURRED.  KEEP UP THE FAITH FOR THE RICH ARE NOT GOING TO HELP YOU ONE BIT.  CHARITY COMES FROM ORGANIZATIONS THAT BEG FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO MAINTAIN THEIR GOOD WORK AND ARE OVERLOOKED.  LISTEN AMERICANS OUT THERE, MOST OF US ARE MIDDLE CLASS OR POOR, UNITE WITH EACH OTHER AND GET THIS COUNTRY ROLLING AGAIN TO HELP EVERYONE ACHIEVE THE AMERICAN DREAM.  TO THOSE WHO DON'T AGREE WITH ME ABOUT MY STATEMENTS MADE HERE I ONLY HAVE ONE THING TO SAY.  TO QUOTE THE GREAT GEORGE CARLIN, "CORPORATE AMERICA RUNS THIS COUNTRY, ALONG WITH THE LOBBYISTS IN WASHINGTON AND BABY WE AIN'T PART OF THEIR CLUB."  LET THOSE WORDS SINK IN YOUR HEARTS TO UNDERSTAND THIS PART OF MY POST.

WEEKEND WISHES AND TONS OF FUN

HAPPY FRIDAY AND A GREAT WEEKEND TO ALL MY GUYS AND DOLLS:

LOTS OF HOLIDAYS THIS WEEKEND SO LET'S GET STARTED. NEXT WEEK I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M GOING TO WRITE ABOUT.

NATIONAL ANTHEM DAY - ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS THAT EVERY TIME IT IS PLAYED I THINK IT TOUCHES ALL OF OUR HEARTS.  THE MOST TOUCHING MOMENT TO ME IS WATCHING THE HISTORY CHANNEL AND SEEING THEM RAISE THE FLAG ON IWO JIMA.  TO ME THOSE VETERANS OF WORLD WAR II FOUGHT THE MOST FOR AMERICA'S FREEDOM.  I DO HONOR THOSE WHO LIKE MYSELF PARTICIPATED IN THE VIETNAM WAR, IRAG AND AFGHANISTAN WARS AND MADE THE SACRIFICES FOR THIS COUNTRY.  THE ONLY THING I HAVE TO SAY IS "NO MORE WARS FOR OIL, CORPORATE INTERESTS, WEAPON'S COMPANIES AND JUST PLAIN IDIOTS."

PET MEMORIAL DAY - TO THOSE WHO LOST THEIR PETS, THIS IS YOUR DAY AND OURS.  LUEE REST IN PEACE, YOU WERE A GREAT FRIEND TO OUR FAMILY.

OVER THE WEEKEND WE CELEBRATE THE FOLLOWING:

THANK YOU DAY - THE BEST WORDS ONE CAN SAY FOR ANYONE WHO DOES SOMETHING NICE FOR YOU.  NEVER FORGET THAT SPEAKIES.

SING OUT LOUD DAY - OF MY FAVORITES, I GET A SONG IN MY MIND AND I SING IT ALL DAY LONG.  "YOU AND ME, AND ME AND YOU, ALWAYS TOGETHER."  SEE WHAT I MEAN.

THE LONE RANGER DAY - A MASKED EX-TEXAS RANGER WHO WITH HIS AMERICAN INDIAN FRIEND TONTO FIGHTS INJUSTICE IN THE OLD WEST.  ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS, "HI-YO, SILVER AWAY."  AND TO TONTO HE WILL ALWAYS BE MY "KEMOSAHBEE."

FINALLY WIFE APPRECIATION DAY -  TO US GUYS THIS IS A EVERYDAY HOLIDAY AND DON'T FORGET IT.

FINALLY CREAM DONUT DAY - THE BEST JOEY Z EVERY HAD WAS AT THE PARAMOUNT BAKERY ON BEATTY ST., CHEBRA'S BAKERY ON BRUNSWICK AVE., AND FINALLY THE JEWISH DELI ON BRUNSWICK AVE. ON A SUNDAY MORNING.  THE NAME WAS LISHOOK'S DELI.  THANKS FOR ALL THOSE MEMORIES OF CREAM DONUTS I ATE AS A KID.

I'M HEARING FROM TRENTON FOLK

JUST WANTED TO WRITE AND SAY A BIG THANKS TO PAUL ( A FORMER TRENTON RESIDENT) AND BONNIE FROM TRENTON, NJ FOR THEIR COMMENTS YESTERDAY.  LISTEN SPEAKIES, I DON'T CARE IF YOU ARE FROM TRENTON, ALASKA, THE CARIBBEAN OR OUTER SPACE.  JOEY Z APPRECIATES ALL YOUR COMMENTS.  PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING.  TO  MY FAITHFUL READERS AND COMMENTER'S A SPECIAL THANKS YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

PEANUTS HERE, GET YOUR PEANUTS HERE

HELLO MY SPEAKIE FRIENDS:

HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN WRITING 2 YEARS NOW AND JOEY Z IS STILL ENJOYING IT.  I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE THOUGHTS, WORDS AND THINGS TO WRITE ABOUT.  I WANT TO THANK ALL MY SOURCES FOR THE INFORMATION YOU READ ABOUT.  SO LET US BEGIN BY HONORING THE FOLLOWING:

BARBER'S DAY - I DON'T REMEMBER MY FIRST HAIRCUT BUT I DO REMEMBER MY SON JOEY'S.  WE WALKED DOWN MORRIS AVENUE TO TOMMY'S BARBER SHOP.  TOMMY WAS AN ELDERLY GENTLEMAN WHO HAD HIS OWN SHOP AND BEFORE I TOOK JOEY, ROE ALWAYS DID SOME CUTTING OF HIS HAIR.  TOMMY LOOKED SURPRISED TO SEE US AND OF COURSE WE HAD TO AWAIT OUR TURN FOR THERE WERE A FEW ELDERLY ITALIAN GENTS BEFORE JOEY.  I REMEMBER TOMMY PLACING THE BOARD ACROSS THE MAIN CHAIN AND JOEY SITTING UP STRAIGHT.  I WAS SO PROUD NOT A TEAR TO BE SHED.  TOMMY DID A GREAT JOB AND NOW THAT I'M OLDER THOSE VISIONS COME TO ME IN A CLEARER SENSE.  HAVE A GREAT DAY BARBERS OF THE WORLD.

ROSH HASHANAH - A HOLY DAY UNTO GOD, TO ALL MY JEWISH READERS, THE BEST OF THE HOLIDAY TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES.

FOR US NUT LOVERS OUT THERE IT IS PEANUT DAY.  I LOVE NUTS PERIOD AND DON'T START LAUGHING AND THINK I MEAN SOMETHING ELSE.  I'M TALKING EDIBLE NUTS.  OF COURSE AS I STATED MY FAVORITES ARE PISTACHIOS BUT I DO LIKE THE STANDARD PEANUT AS WELL.  HERE IS A LITTLE STORY, WHEN I WAS WORKING MY BOSS REBECCA BROUGHT IN SOME BOILED PEANUTS.  NEVER HAD HOT BOILED PEANUTS, BUT I HAD TO TRY SOME.  I WAS HOOKED AND EVERYONE RAISED IN SOUTH MADE FUN OF ME FOR LIKING THEM.  I SIMPLY SAID, "I WAS FROM THE SOUTHERN PART OF NEW JERSEY Y'ALL."  ENJOY YOU NUTS ANYWAY YOU LIKE THEM.  LOL.

SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE YOUR MILKSHAKE

HAPPY SEPTEMBER 12, 2012, GUYS AND DOLLS:

Chocolate_Banana_Milkshake_002.jpg image by Phulespride

THE REASON FOR THE HEADLINE IS THAT TODAY IS "NATIONAL CHOCOLATE MILKSHAKE DAY."  WHO DOES NOT LOVE MILKSHAKES, ANY FLAVORS?  YOU MUST NOT BE NORMAL IF YOU DON'T.  EVERY FAST FOOD PLACE HAS MILKSHAKES NOW A DAYS, HOWEVER THE BEST IS STILL THE SODA FOUNTAIN ONES.  I TOLD YOU MY FAVORITES WERE AT CARL'S CANDY STORE NEAR MY GRANDMOTHER'S HOUSE, NICE AND THIN AND IF YOU DRANK IT TOO FAST BRAIN FREEZE.  MY FAVORITE IS THE THIN MILKSHAKE NOT THE KIND YOU NEED A SPOON TO EAT.  SHAKES ARE TO DRINK, IF YOU WANT ICE CREAM ORDER IT.  TAKE THE FAMILY OUT FOR SOME SHAKES TONIGHT AFTER SUPPER AND ENJOY.

GOING TO PAY RESPECT TO THE WOMEN WHO ARE POLICE OFFICERS TODAY FOR IT IS THEIR DAY.  BEING AN OFFICER OF THE LAW IS TOUGH ENOUGH FOR A MAN BUT I GIVE A 100% JOEY Z CONGRATS TO THE DOLLS ON THE FORCE NO MATTER IF IT IS AN OFFICE JOB OR OUT THERE ON THE STREETS.  KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB BUT FOR JOEY Z REMEMBER "BE CAREFUL OUT THERE."  NEVER FORGET LINE FROM HILL STREET BLUES.  THANKS.

VIDEO GAME DAY - I REMEMBER MY SONS COMING HOME ONE DAY AND JABBERING ABOUT SOMETHING CALLED VIDEO GAMES.  WELL THEY PLAY THE OLD GAMES OF PONG, SPACE INVADERS AND THEN GRADUATED INTO NINTENDO.  I CAN STILL HEAR AND SEE THEM PLAYING MARIO BROTHERS, TOP GUN, BASEBALL AND OTHER GAMES (THEY PROBABLY STILL DO).  ONE NIGHT I TRIED TO PLAY TOP GUN, I TOOK THE FIGHTER OFF THE FLIGHT DECK FOUGHT A FEW MIGS BUT NEVER LANDED ON THE CARRIER.  TODAY I AM STILL NOT A GREAT PLAYER OF VIDEO GAMES.  GIVE ME THOSE GOOD OLD GAMES IN THE ARCADE AT SEASIDE HEIGHTS.  CAN YOU JERSEY SPEAKIES RECALL THE BEAR YOU SHOT WHO SPUN AROUND AND GROWLED.  ONE OF MY FAVORITES WAS SEA WOLF AND VARIOUS OTHER GUN GAMES.

NEVER FORGET THIS DAY IN HISTORY

GOOD MORNING GUYS AND DOLLS:

NEVER FORGET THIS DAY IN HISTORY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2001.  THE DAY WHEN WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES WERE ATTACKED BY TERRORISTS.  THIS DAY IS IMPORTANT TO US AS IT WAS TO OUR PARENTS WHEN PEARL HARBOR WAS ATTACKED ON DECEMBER 7, 1941.  BEWARE AND ALWAYS KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN FOR SUSPICION.

Now to happier things this day:

MAKE YOUR BED DAY - When I was working Roe always made my bed when she woke up, some days there was a slip up but that does not matter now.  Now that I am retired, I usually make up both our beds unless she does it first.  The joys of retirement age just get better each day.  So lazy butts make up your beds and when you are ready to crawl under those sheets you'll know it was made and it is fresh.

I WANT TO START MY OWN BUSINESS DAY - So do Roe and I and we can't tell you the secret.  Hoping one day to make it happen.  Donate please, as I always say charity begins at Joey Z's.

For you foodies today, honor the "HOT CROSS BUNS."  I always liked hot cross buns to eat when I was little, but now I just love Hot Buns.  It's my Blog Speakies, so sorry if it offends.

Have a great day and a wonderful evening and enjoy those buns Guys.

HAPPY MONDAY SEPTEMBER 10, 2012

GOOD MONDAY MORNING GUYS AND DOLLS:

gumbo.jpg image by drknite1970

I hope you all had a great weekend, enjoyed all the football one can see on television and hoping all your favorites won.  Let's get to some holiday celebrations today so if you are ready away we go.

SWAP IDEAS DAY - Sounds like a good holiday but if I had an idea that would make me a fortune why would I want to swap my idea with some bozo.  I would swap some bad ideas but as Joey Z always says, "Charity Begins at Home."  Don't become alarmed it is only for this crazy holiday.  I have compassion for my fellow man first comes my purse.

NATIONAL RICE MONTH - Must be a big holiday in China and the rest of the Asian countries.  I like rice but it must have flavor, not the plain old white rice.  Let see what kind of dishes I like that include rice to honor this great monthly celebration:

GOOD OLD GUMBO, WITH CHICKEN, SAUSAGE, SHRIMP, RICE AND ALL THAT OTHER GOOD STUFF FROM DOWN SOUTH.

SPANISH RICE WITH BLACK BEANS OR REFRIED BEANS AND SOME GREAT TACO'S TO GO ALONG.

GOLABKI - THAT GREAT POLISH DISH WITH RICE, GROUND MEAT AND CABBAGE TO SEAL THE DEAL.  JOEY Z'S NUMBER ONE RICE DINNER.

ROE HAS A GREAT RICE SIDE DISH WITH PEAS, CARROTS AND CORN, GREAT WITH FISH OR A LIGHT DINNER FARE.

CHICKEN RICE SOUP - NOTHING BETTER ON A COLD WINTER DAY OR NIGHT TO TAKE THE CHILL OUT OF YOUR BONES.

RICE PUDDING - OH HOW COULD WE FORGET THIS DESSERT?  THERE MUST BE TONS MORE, SEND YOUR COMMENTS IN PLEASE AND LET THE OTHER READERS ENJOY.

ETHNIC FOODS MONTH - THERE ARE SO MANY NATIONALITIES IN THIS COUNTRY EVERYONE HAS THEIR FAVORITE ETHNIC FOODS.  I LOVE POLISH AND ITALIAN THE MOST.  MEXICAN AND CHINESE ARE COMING UP THE REAR, SOUNDS LIKE A HORSE RACE BUT THOSE ARE MY FAVORITES.  THERE ARE ALSO COMFORT FOODS WE ALL LOVE, LIKE OPEN FACE SANDWICHES WITH TURKEY OR ROAST BEEF, MEAT LOAF, FRIED CHICKEN, BURGERS, DOGS AND IT GOES ON.

Enough for today Speakies, have a wonderful day and a pleasant evening and start enjoying the Fall weather up North with all those leaves you have to pick up.

HOW ABOUT SOME WORDS OF WISDOM

HI SPEAKIES:

SITTING IN DOCTOR OFFICES YOU READ ANYTHING THAT'S AVAILABLE TO PASS THE TIME BEFORE HE COMES TO GET YOU.  SO WITHOUT FURTHER DELAY HERE ARE SOME WORDS OF WISDOM THAT I READ RECENTLY:

ALWAYS FORGIVE YOUR ENEMIES, NOTHING ANNOYS THEM SO MUCH.

WHEN EVERYTHING IS COMING YOUR WAY, YOU ARE IN THE WRONG LANE.

IF EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE GOING WELL, YOU HAVE OBLIVIOUSLY OVERLOOKED SOMETHING.

MANY PEOPLE QUIT LOOKING FOR WORK WHEN THEY FIND A JOB.

WHEN I'M NOT IN MY RIGHT MIND, MY LEFT MIND GETS PRETTY CROWDED.

EVERYONE HAS A PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORY.  SOME JUST DON'T HAVE THE FILM.

YOU KNOW THE SPEED ON LIGHT, SO WHAT'S THE SPEED OF DARK.

THE EVENING NEWS IS WHERE THE BEGIN WITH "GOOD EVENING"; AND THEN PROCEED TO TELL YOU WHY IT ISN'T.

AND ONE FUN FACT FOR TODAY:  THE FIRST TOILET EVER SEEN ON TELEVISION WAS ON "LEAVE IT TO BEAVER."  NO S--T.

LIKE I SAID JUST SOME WORDS OF WISDOM.  HAVE A GREAT DAY GUYS AND DOLLS.

DID NOT THINK I WOULD HAVE THE TIME

SURPRISE GUYS AND DOLLS:

Sleep : Cartoon sleepwalker with hands held in front. Isolated on white

IT'S FRIDAY AND I THOUGHT I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO POST TODAY. HOWEVER, I'M SNEAKING IN SOME FUN FACTS FOR THE WEEKEND.  SO HERE WE GO:

WHEN YOU SNEEZE WATER CAN COME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH. - JOEY Z SAYS WHAT ABOUT MILK?

PEANUTS ARE ONE OF THE INGREDIENTS OF DYNAMITE - BEAT THAT ONE JIMMY WALKER!

RUBBER BANDS LAST LONGER WHEN PLACED IN THE REFRIGERATOR - NOT IN OURS.

ALMONDS ARE A MEMBER OF THE PEACH FAMILY.

THERE ARE 366 DIMPLES ON A REGULATION GOLF BALL.

A DIME HAS 118 RIDGES AROUND THE EDGE. - WHO COUNTED THAT, PROBABLY THE SAME GUY WHO DID THE GOLF BALL.

SLOTHS ARE ACTUALLY FAST; THEY JUST PREFER TO MOVE AT A SLOW PACE. - SO DO SNAILS.

DREAMS:

LATELY I HAVE BEEN HAVING MORE VIVID DREAMS, LIKE IN COLOR STUFF THAT I CAN'T EXPLAIN SO I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH ON DREAMING AND HERE ARE A FEW FACTS:

IN OUR DREAMS WE SEE FACES THAT WE ALREADY KNOW, OUR MINDS ARE NOT INVENTING THE FACES.  IN THE DREAMS WE SEE REAL FACES OF REAL PEOPLE THAT WE HAVE SEEN DURING OUR LIFE BUT MAY NOT REMEMBER.

WE FORGET 90% OF OUR DREAMS.  WITHIN FIVE MINUTES OF WAKING, HALF OF YOUR DREAM IS FORGOTTEN.  WITHIN TEN MINUTES, 90% IS GONE.

WE CAN HAVE FOUR TO SEVEN DREAMS IN ONE NIGHT.  ON AVERAGE WE CAN DREAM ANYWHERE FROM ONE TO TWO HOURS EACH NIGHT.

THAT IS IT SLEEPY HEADS, HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND AND BE CAREFUL OUT THERE.

JUST LIKE OUR PARENTS

ARE YOU READY SPEAKIES BUY A DOZEN

HELLO GUYS AND DOLLS:

Are you ready for the "GREAT EGG TOSS DAY?"  Tell me you never got involved in an egg tossing contest, hell they were everywhere.  Local picnics, school picnics and even family outings at your uncle's house.  They were better than the water balloon contest you only got wet on that one, but the egg toss was nice and messy.  I recommend all you Guys and Dolls to get out there today and buy some eggs and have a contest.  Hey! a contest at work would be great and think of what a stress relief it could be and you can even blast the boss.

READ A BOOK DAY - I like to write and I have written two books but hate to read for some reason.  The books I like to read need to have pictures.  Now Roe is a reader of all sorts.  She owns every Stephen King book written and only has a few left to read.  I envy you readers, it is that I can not hold an interest in just reading words my mind starts to wander as Roe can verify that fact as she finds me talking to myself at times.

THE PINK PANTHER'S BIRTHDAY - The first time I ever saw a Pink Panther movie I knew I was hooked.  Peter Sellers was a complete boob and I never stopped liking his humor; it was sad he passed away at such an early young age.  My favorite movie in the series is still "A Shot in the Dark."  I recall the Beatty St. Boys all went to see that movie in Trenton when we were in high school and pissed our pants laughing.  I can still see Louie and I laughing so hard.

BARBIE DOLL DAY - Barbie made here debut in 1959.  I recently saw an episode on television called the "Toy Hunter."  A woman had an entire collection of Barbie Dolls and he purchased the first one from 1959 for $3,000 dollars.  Mom in heaven why did you throw out my old baseball cards?

It is "COFFEE ICE CREAM DAY" if you like that flavor have at it today.

I'm taking Friday off so let me fill you in on a couple of weekend holidays to drink to:

FEEL THE LOVE DAY - I remember that feeling and I'm sure you Guys and Dolls hold that feeling close to your hearts today.  Maybe it was your first crush, a flirtation from a pretty girl, your first kiss or your first steady girlfriend.  Its good to bring back those memories for that is what life is all about.  There have been the good times and bad for each of us, but memories such as love can never be forgotten.

Hey new Moms and Dads it is also "PAMPERS DAY."  Pampers the next best thing to sliced bread and that's all I'm saying about this holiday.

HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY AND A WONDERFUL WEEKEND.  BE CAREFUL AND KEEP THE LOVE ALIVE.

ELIZABETH:

I LOVED READING YOUR COMMENTS ELIZABETH.  STOP BY ANY TIME AND POST YOUR FEELINGS.  I NEED COMMENTS LIKE ELIZABETH'S!!!  LISTEN SPEAKIES, JUST DON'T READ!  POST YOUR COMMENTS AND TELL ME  WHAT IS ON YOUR MIND.  THAT IS WHAT JOEY Z'S SPEAK EASY IS ALL ABOUT.  SO LET'S GET WITH IT GUYS AND DOLLS IT IS BETTER THAN WATCHING THE BOOB TUBE.  GET CREATIVE AND SAY WHAT YOUR BRAIN IS THINKING. OR EVEN YOUR DEEP EMOTIONS.  MAYBE I SHOULD START A JOEY Z LOVE LINE?

I HAVE HOPE FOR YOU ALL.  THANKS AGAIN FOR LETTING ME SPEAK, JUST BECAUSE IT IS JOEY Z'S SPEAKEASY.

HAPPY HUMP DAY GUYS AND DOLLS

Happy Wednesday Guys and Dolls:

I'm always in the mood to find something different to write about so while at the doctor's office last week I was reading a local publication with loads of advertisements and other stuff.  So today Joey Z presents you with some "FUN FACTS FROM THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE."

Pinocchio is Italian for Pine Eye.

Camel's milk does not curdle, I guess that is the reason it is good on desert trips.

Murphy's Oil Soap is a chemical commonly used to wash elephants.  If any thing could get them clean that's it.

Checkmate comes from the Persian phrase "Shah Mat", which means the king is dead.

91% of Americans lie daily!  I'm sure politicians do most of that.

Cat's urine glows under a black light, new DNA evidence, I think I'll let CSI know.  So there is some interesting tidbits for you Speakies to enjoy today.  Now the holidays:

BE LATE FOR SOMETHING DAY - Who cares just do it once in your life, unless maybe you are getting married today which would not be a good idea.  This holiday is highly recommended for high school students who usually make up loads of excuses.

WAFFLE HOUSE DAY - We have so many in our area I never ate in one.  I remember when our sons were little and we came to Florida, one morning Roe and I stopped at a Waffle House for coffee.  I worked with a wonderful person whose name I won't post but her husband is a manager for several Waffle Houses and she always told me what the good stuff is to order.  One day I will take her up on the advice.  I promise Shakira oops I gave your name away.

NATIONAL SHRINK DAY - Without checking my research sources is this a day to shrink things or do I lay down on a couch and confess my inner most secrets to a complete stranger?  Dr. Niles Crane I have this dream about a beautiful woman who????????????????????????

Finally for us Foodies it is "CHEESE PIZZA DAY."  Honestly the first only true cheese pie I really enjoyed was from DeLorenzo's in Trenton, NJ.  Recently Roe and I have found our favorite pizza place and that is "Brooklyn Pizza" in Winter Park, FL on Fairbanks Ave.  Their plain pizza is great, nice and crispy just the way pizza should be add the toppings and it is out of this world.

Well that is all for today Speakies, have a great day and a pleasant evening.  SHAKIRA I AM SENDING THIS POST TO YOU VIA E-MAIL SO YOU WILL READ IT AND MAYBE START READING MY BLOG.

HAVE A GREAT EVENING SPEAKIES AND SOON TO BE SPEAKIES.

READ ALL ABOUT IT

Hello Guys and Dolls:

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend and now its back to work and for me I have to get started on some of my little projects that I wanted to do.  Now for some holidays to raise our mugs to today.

NEWSPAPER CARRIER DAY - Those days of carrying that heavy bag filled with the morning or evening papers are gone.  Now papers are still delivered to the carrier's house but mostly delivered by car.  The only thing that has not changed is getting up early.  When I was in grammar school, I took over my friend's paper route for 3 weeks while he was on vacation.  Lucky me I had the evening route that was a lot of fun, plus I made money.  Back in my youth days we had the Trentonian which was the morning news and the Trenton Times the evening edition.  Those were the true newspaper days, I'm afraid the Internet some day will totally replace the newspapers in general.  For all you carriers enjoy the day you deserve the credit for delivering in all kinds of weather.  I'll remember the mail carriers when their holiday rolls around.

EAT AN EXTRA DESSERT DAY - There were days that Joey Z had an extra dessert but now-a-days its lucky I eat a dessert.  Don't get me wrong I do enjoy a dessert now and then.  I recently enjoyed some TastyKake pies from the newly opened WaWa store those apple and blueberry pies sure hit the spot with a cup of coffee.  Another favorite of mine right now is Graham Crackers and hot tea in the evening hour.  If you ever take a cruise, don't be shy you can eat all the desserts you want and no one will say a word.

BEETLE BAILEY DAY - Not much to say about good old Beetle Bailey, except that he was one of my favorite cartoons in my younger days.  I loved the old cartoons, Nancy, The Wizard of Id, The Katzenjammer Kids, Charlie Brown, Terry and the Pirates and tons of others I can't recall.

For you nut lovers we celebrate "MACADAMIA NUT DAY."  I love them but they are really expensive to buy.  Lately my cravings are for pistachio nuts I can't get enough of them and besides they are good for your circulation as one Hispanic gentleman told Roe and I at our local grocery store.  Who am I to doubt this man's knowledge of nuts?

HAPPY LABOR DAY SPEAKIES

Hello Speakies:

I forgot it was Labor Day but I still wanted to stop by and wish you a great holiday.  I always looked forward to Labor Day it was a long haul to work since having off on the 4th of July.  I look at paid holidays this way so follow my theory.  January 1 is New Years Day most everyone is hung over from New Year's Eve and forget that January 2 it is back to work.  Next comes Martin Luther King Day, a great holiday honoring a great man of freedom.  Speakies after that there is nothing until Memorial Day in May.  I don't know how many people have Good Friday off but there are some.  Followed by the 4th of July which is nice and then Labor Day.  After Labor Day gang we are in coasting gear.  Thanksgiving and the day after, followed by Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  For Joey Z it does not matter anymore Amen.  Enjoy your holiday today.

I missed some holidays over the weekend so let me make my respects to:

LEAF BLOWER DAY - To me one of the greatest yard inventions.  I have to pull out my shop vacuum and clean around my carport when necessary.  In our development we have a lawn service that cuts our grass, edges and weed whacks our properties.  Let me tell you the cutting is far from great but I don't have to do it Amen.  Now these guys leave all the clippings all over the place and I was getting furious.  Now that I am retired I wait like a jackal on my porch to make them blow the mess away.  Now I am happy and my Leaf Blower Day Holiday is great.

BLUEBERRY POPSICLE DAY - Never had one, so you lucky Speakies out there who have the advantage of that flavor enjoy one today.  P.S. don't forget the kiddies.

WELSH RAREBIT DAY -  Hell I always thought it was Bugs Bunny on toast.  Actually it is melted cheese and other good stuff made with a savoury sauce served hot over toast.  Sounds like S--T on a SHINGLE from the good old service days.  I never ate it in the service but it is not so bad now, maybe because there is no DI standing in back of me and shouting that I am are nothing but an amoeba.

I may make fun of stuff and I hope I don't offend you Guys and Dolls in my posts.  I enjoy writing and expressing my views.  I never thought I would be the person who could sit down and write what I feel but I'm glad I did with starting this Blog and writing my first book.  I have written a second one but not sure of wanting to publish it.  I will let you know in the near future if I decide.  Have a great day.

ATTENTION: MY TRENTON AND JERSEY SPEAKIES

FELLOW BURGER LOVERS:

JUST SAW A SHOW ON THE TRAVEL STATION CALLED "BURGER LAND."  THE HOST VISITED AND ATE AT SEVERAL JERSEY LOCATIONS AND ONE WAS "ROSSI'S BAR AND GRILL" IN TRENTON.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD LOOKED THE SAME BUT WE DID NOT SEE OUR OLD HOUSE.  THE BURGERS LOOKED GREAT AND THE PLACE WAS CROWDED.  MY TASTE BUDS WERE GOING CRAZY WATCHING THIS SHOW.   THE BURGERS AT ROSSI'S LOOKED LIKE THEY DID 21 YEARS AGO WHEN I HAD MY LAST ONE THERE.

IF YOU GET THE TRAVEL STATION, I'M SURE THERE WILL BE A REPEAT OF THIS SHOW, SO CATCH IT.

WAWA IS HERE AND JOEY Z WAS THERE TODAY

HAPPY SUNDAY SPEAKIES:

MOST OF YOU ARE PROBABLY DOWN AT THE BEACH, OVER RELATIVES HOUSES HAVING A COOKOUT OR JUST GOOFING OFF TODAY.  ROE AND I TOOK A RIDE NEAR SEA WORLD TODAY AND SHE WANTED ME TO TRY A SANDWICH AT THE NEWLY OPENED WAWA STORE.  NOW WE HAD WAWA'S BACK IN TRENTON, GOOD HOAGIES, COFFEE, LUNCH MEAT ETC. BUT I WANTED TO SEE THIS NEW ONE.

THE PLACE WAS VERY BUSY AT THE SANDWICH STATION, HOWEVER IT IS PRETTY NEAT.  THEY HAVE SEVERAL SCREENS WHERE YOU TOUCH BUTTONS TO ORDER THE SANDWICHES YOU WANT, SIDE ORDERS AND DRINKS.  IT THEN PRINTS OUT A TICKET WITH A NUMBER AND YOU AWAIT YOUR ORDER.

ROE AND I DECIDED ON A CHEESE STEAK WITH WHITE AMERICAN AND FRIED ONIONS AND AN ORDER OF SWEET PEPPERS ON THE SIDE.  ALL IN ALL NOT A BAD SANDWICH.  THE ROLL NICE AND CRISPY, MEAT TENDER AND ONIONS COOKED FINE.  THE NEXT TIME I THINK I MAY ORDER AN ITALIAN HOAGIE.  WE ORDERED THE SMALL SANDWICH AND IT WAS ENOUGH TO SHARE.  THEY HAD A GREAT TASTY KAKE SECTION TO CHOOSE FROM AND ONLY 99 CENTS COMPARED TO $1.29 IN THE LOCAL STORES.

SO IF YOU JERSEY, PENNSY PEOPLE ARE IN THE AREA STOP BY AND HAVE A GREAT SANDWICH.  IF YOU LOCALS FROM UP NORTH ARE NEAR DO THE SAME.  I DON'T KNOW IF THEY HAVE WAWA'S IN NEW YORK BUT YOU ARE WELCOME TOO.  I DON'T WANT TO FORGET YOU GUYS TOO.

A DEAR FRIEND SENT ME THIS TO SHARE

HI GUYS AND DOLLS:

A DEAR FRIEND OF MINE SENT ME THIS AND I WANTED TO PASS IT ALONG TO ALL MY READERS, TO ME IT MAYBE JUST A MADE UP STORY BUT IT TEACHES ALL OF US A TRUE LESSON IN LIFE.  I TRY TO LEARN THESE LESSONS NOW  AS I GROW OLDER BECAUSE I KNOW I DON'T POSSESS THE QUALITIES OF LIFE THAT HIS WOMAN HAS.  I'M SURE MOST OF YOU ARE PROBABLY IN THE SAME BOAT AS ME, SO SIT BACK AND ENJOY.  THANKS TO THE PLAINS DEALER NEWSPAPER IN CLEVELAND OHIO WHERE THIS WAS PUBLISHED.

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder.

I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being..

She said, 'Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?'

I laughed and enthusiastically responded, 'Of course you may!' and she gave me a giant squeeze..

'Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?' I asked.

She jokingly replied, 'I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids...'

'No seriously,' I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.

'I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!' she told me.

After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake.

We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this 'time machine' as she shared her wisdom and experience with me..

Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up.

At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor.

Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, 'I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know.'

As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, ' We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing.

There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die.

We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!

There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up.

If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight.

Anybody! Can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets.

The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets..'

She concluded her speech by courageously singing 'The Rose.'

She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those months ago.

One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.

Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.

When you finish reading this, please send this peaceful word of advice to your friends and family, they'll really enjoy it!
