Luee

Luee
We adopted Luee from the Humane Society in 1996. He was 2 years old, but still a pup. He has slowed down a bit; his age is catching up to him. He is the best dog anyone could ever have. Luee had to be put to sleep on April 15, 2009. Rest in Peace Pup.

Good Morning Guys and Dolls:

Happy Friday to you all, wishing you all a great weekend. You’ve seen me write about pork roll, that great Trenton, NJ treat. For those who have never seen it, feast your eyes below.
Great tasting juicy pork roll ready to go into a nice crispy round roll with one or two slices of white American cheese melted on top, covered with spicy mustard and maybe a thin slice of Bermuda sweet onion to top it off. If you live in Florida and want to try this, Publix has it in stock. ENJOY.

Tomorrow is August 1, so fill your mugs and toast the following holidays:
Girlfriend’s Day
Play Ball Day
National Sister’s Day
Spiderman’s Birthday

Once again have a great weekend and be careful out there. For all you new readers feel free to answer any of the posts and stop by anytime.

AS AUGUST APPROACHES

Good Morning Speakies:

Well it is Thursday, July 30 and almost August. Originally August was named Sextilis in Latin because it was the sixth month in the ancient Roman calendar. August is National Family Fun Month, Little League Baseball Month and my favorite Romance Awareness Month. As far as food goes, it is also National Catfish Month. As we get into the month of August, I will fill your craniums with knowledge regarding the last hot month of summer vacation.

Being July 30th lets say “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” to those born today, whether they are here or not.
Henry Ford – The Car Man
Casey Stengel – The Old Professor of Baseball
Edd “Kookie” Byrnes – 77 Sunset Strip Famous Valet Parker
Paul Anka – Great singer and composer
The Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger

So Guys and Dolls have a great day, be careful out there. For me I’ll be on the lookout for posting ideas.

DADDY LOSER

Hello Speakies:

Here’s a true news story out of Lake Mary, FL. The father (if you want to call him that) of a 21 year old disabled man was arrested after he choked and beat his son. This so called dad and get this is a teacher at a local middle school. He was charged with felony battery, obstruction of an air way and abuse of a disabled adult.

After his son urinated in his pants, this bozo stripped him down and started hitting him in the head with the soiled underwear; he later shoved a rag in his mouth so he could not breathe. The son told his school and mother of the incident leading to the arrest. The son suffers from cerebral palsy that affects a person’s ability to coordinate body movements.

Here is the kicker the school district will investigate the case and decide on the dad’s future as a teacher. What future? The only future this knucklehead should have is figuring how not to get his ass poked in prison for the next 35 years.

STRICKLY THE OPINION OF JOEY Z.

TAKING A BREAK

Hello Speakies: I'm around but taking a break from blog writing and devoting some time to my second book. I had some ideas so I wanted to put them on paper before my memory lapses. I hope to find you all enjoying the day or making the best of it. Let me pose a question to you readers and please comment, it only takes a minute. When you were young, I'm sure you heard this question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Come on Speakies let me know your dark secrets. Me, I wanted to be a pilot, a baseball player, a dentist and who knows what else.

Take a few minutes and tell me your name and your dark desires.

WHO NEEDS A SLEEP NUMBER BED

Speakies:
A real story out of Tampa, FL. Authorities say a man, who had been sleeping in a dumpster, sustained minor injuries after he was picked up by a garbage truck along with the trash. Authorities say that when firefighters and paramedics arrived they heard the poor soul banging on the sides of the sanitation truck. A sanitation employee had not yet activated the truck's compactor which would have crushed our pool soul to the size of a raisin box.

HAPPY MONDAY SPEAKIES

Well Speakies, I hope your Monday is off to a good start and that you all had a great weekend. Here are some holidays we will be celebrating this week:

July 27
National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day
Take Your Houseplant for a Walk Day - I have to find my leash
Walk on Stilts Day - I'll let the clowns celebrate that one

July 28
National Milk Chocolate Day

July 30
Cheesecake Day - I'll taste one of each.
Father-in-Law Day

July 31
System Administrator Appreciation Day

I wrote a post on Friday about food and my old neighborhood and all the great places for lunch or dinner. My buddy Mack posted a comment he was enjoying an Italian People's Bakery cannoli as he was writing, don't make me hungry or nothing Mack. Then Tom Glover writes about what I call finger cakes from my old Polish neighborhood bakery and how good they are. A finger cake was a long donut filled with cream and topped with powder sugar, sooooogooood. If you are stopping by my blog, Mack's Truck of Wisdom and Tom Glover's Hamilton blogs are listed on the blogs that I follow, check them out. For you locals around Trenton, NJ they will bring back memories. Both blogs provide photos, news articles and well written information on the good old days. You won't be disappointed. I also have to put a plug in for my wife's blog, Creative Liberties, also posted on my site. Rosemary is quite the scrapper, check it out and you will see her great work. If you have any scrapbooking questions post a comment. Well I checked for the crazies down here, it's going to rain so my guess is they are lying low. Have a good one Guys and Dolls.

MEMORIES LIGHT CORNERS OF MY STOMACH

Hello Speakies:

I started this blog from my wife’s suggestion, but find myself enjoying writing about different subjects. Some are serious most of them just funny tidbits of my human nature. Last night Rosemary and I were watching the Travel Channel. They broadcasted three shows about hotdogs, hamburgers and places to eat. We both grew up in Trenton, NJ, the home of the finest food around as far as I’m concerned. For hotdogs we had the “Casino”, a small hole in the wall place who gave you hotdogs on an Italian roll with peppers, onions and fried potatoes.

Pizza we call it Tomato Pie and there were several great places like DeLorenzo’s, Papa’s and one of my favorites growing up was Sam’s LaRoma. Pies are made with less cheese, more sauce and a crispy crust. You’d pick up a slice, crack it in half and watch the oil drip down. That’s a pie. We liked Nino’s Pizza on Chambers St. for their Sicilian pizza or a great cheese steak with peppers and onions and a side order of fries, wrapped in paper. Always greeted with that same phrase, “Watta You Want Boss.”

For a great burger you went to Rossi’s Bar and Grill or Ernie’s Tavern near Rt. 130. Rossi’s is a great neighborhood bar and grill and has seen it’s share of great major league players like “Joltin” Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle and boxer Jersey Joe Walcott.

In a section called “Chambersburg” there must have been at least 20 Italian restaurants in it's prime all equal in fine cuisine. Mom and Pop bakeries, deli’s and the like filled the Burg. I guess what I’m trying to say is I have to stop watching the Travel Station and start my own Cheese Pork Roll Stand or maybe just hope Moms and Pops start opening up businesses again.

So if you are ever heading to the Trenton, NJ area, try the food out and if you pass me on the way home, bring some back.

CAVEAT EMPTOR - GETS MY GANDER

Hello to my Speakies and a note of special interest to all you tourists visiting Central Florida. BEWARE! BEWARE! Our local news reported a story of how a family from England were the victims from one of our local merchants. When you visit Central Florida, you’ll see them and their giant signs, CAMERAS, LAP TOPS, VIDEO RECORDERS, CHEAPEST PRICES AROUND. I SAY BULLSHIT! PARDON THE FRENCH.

Places like these even try to rip-off the locals. My wife can tell you a story about her and the lens for her camera. This poor family purchased a Nikon camera and paid over $1,600 for it. They later saw it advertised for $499 at nationwide store chain and tried to return the original purchase, but was refused the refund. The sales slip said, “All SALES FINAL.” They contacted a local news station who sent out one of their investigative reporters who could not get a straight answer from MR. BAD BUSINESS. The Better Business Bureau rating on this company was an “F”. Later in the news cast MR. BAD BUSINESS WAS REVIEWING THE MATTER. My dear friends from England, I do hope you receive satisfaction out of this.

Just to warn you visitors, please beware and purchase from merchants you’ve heard of and pay by Credit Card, at least you may have a chance to cancel your purchase. If I can be of any help drop Joey Z a line.

REST IN PEACE GIDGET

Hello Guys and Dolls:

Sad to report, Gidget the “Taco Bell Dog” has died at the age of 15. Gidget was loved by all, she spent her last days relaxing but was always ready for the camera. Long live that slogan, “YO QUIERO TACO BELL!”

THE BLUEBERRY PATCH STORY

Good Morning Speakies:

Crazies right off the bat. True story from Altoona, Florida. A Lake County man accused of shooting at people in his blueberry patch said he was just trying to scare off bears. Mr. Blueberry was charged with four counts of aggravated assault shooting at his 80 year old neighbor and her relatives. You know the old song, “Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree With Anyone Else But Me”, how about “Don't Shoot Me, I Thought The Blueberries Were Free.”

Have a great day, I'm off for the rest of the day. I'll be searching for those answers that man has asked for ages, "HOT DOG WITH CHILI OR NOT."

GRANDBABY NEEDS A NEW PAIR OF SHOES

Hello Guys and Dolls – Just as promised I checked the hot wires and found a news story of interest. This one comes out of the great city of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. A North Miami granny was sentenced to 14 months of house arrest for leaving her two grandchildren alone inside a car while she was gambling. A witness said they saw the 2-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy in the car and notified casino security. Just imagine the temperature inside that car even with the windows open. Get some help grandma, put out that cigarette, dump that scotch and soda and save those quarters for their education fund.

Comments strickly those of JoeyZ.

HAPPY TUESDAY TO ALL

Good Day Speakies:

I’m glad to see everyone made it through Monday and hope you all enjoyed that Jay Leno clip to start your day. I think I’ll list the rest of the week’s observances that we will be celebrating.

July 21:
Legal Drinking Age Day

July 22:
Health, Happiness with Hypnosis Day – Just follow my watch, you’re getting sleepy.
Rat Catchers Day - I'll let them celebrate this day.
Spooners Day – Sounds interesting.

July 23:
All-American Soap Box Derby Day – I watched those back home when I was a kid, really neat.
Gorgeous Grandma Day – This is your day Rosemary, you are a gorgeous grandmother.
Hot Enough for You Day – Down here in Florida it is, probably hotter in hell.

July 24:
Cousins Day - No comment from me on my cousins.
National Drive-Thru Day – Everybody just go through the various drive thru windows, don’t buy anything and don’t deposit or withdraw any cash from the banks. Just drive through, it will drive them nuts.
Tell An Old Joke Day – Did you hear the one about the traveling salesman and the farmer's daughter?

I'll be checking for interesting Florida news or any of my crazies on the loose. Have a great day and be careful out there.

THESE PEOPLE ARE FOR REAL

Hello Guys and Dolls: I never have a chance to watch the Tonight Show, some of us still have to get up early for work. A co-worker sent me this clip of Jay Leno and his "JayWalking" portion of the show. This is funny and scary for these people are real and do exist. Please enjoy and get a good laugh. Where is our future going?

WORDS FROM A GREAT PHILOSOPHER

HOW TO STAY YOUNG SPEAKIES

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

NOW HERE IS THAT GREAT PHILOSOPHER

HAPPY MONDAY MORNING

Happy Monday Morning Speakies:

Yeah, I can hear you all yelling, “Get Back in Your Hole Joey Z”. Well it’s Monday and there’s not a thing we can do about it except celebrate the following holidays today:

National Get Out of the Doghouse Day – I suggest some groveling with a good “I’m Sorry Honey”, followed by a big kiss and a nice dinner out.
National Hug Your Kid Day – Please not only hug them, but give them a big kiss and tell them you love them no matter how old they are. If they live in another town, call and tell them but don’t forget.
National Lollipop Day – Break out the suckers all around.

Have a great day Speakies, don’t work too hard and be careful. Write back and tell me how your day went.

Friday, July 17, 2009

CALENDAR AND A LITTLE HISTORY FOR TODAY

Hi Guys and Dolls: Today we start to celebrate National Ventriloquism Week, so bring out those dummies and start practicing for America’s Got Talent. Daily observances for today include:

Get To Know Your Customers Day - Good thing to do if you want to keep a job.
Hot Dog Night – I wish I could get a Casino Italian Dog right about now.

Let’s see who was Born Today:
1746 – Giuseppe Piazzi – He discovered the first asteroid (Ceres).
1887 – “Shoeless” Joe Jackson – Black Sox Player, to me unfairly judged, “Say it ain’t so Joe.”
1907 – Barbara Stanwyck – Actress of many movies.
1963 – Phoebe Cates – Actress (Fast Times at Ridgemount High).
1971 – Corey Feldman – Actor (Lost Boys).

Died Today:
1981 – Harry Chapin – Singer
1991 – Frank Rizzo – Mayor of Philly (He did not take Number 2 from Anybody).

Here are some interesting things that occurred today:
1439 – Kissing is banned in England – Homey don’t play that.
1769 – Father Serra founds Mission San Diego, 1’st mission in California.
1935 – 1’st parking meter installed in Oklahoma City.
1941 – Joe DiMaggio goes 3 for 4, hitting in his 56th straight game.
1956 – Last Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus under a canvas tent.
1970 – Pittsburgh Pirates replace Forbes Field.

Thought of the Day: “Two wrongs do not make a right; it usually takes three or more.”

VIEWS

Good Morning Speakies:

I not only try to post funnies, my view points, history lessons and the such but try to inform you about points of interest you and I might share. I’m an amateur buff on World War II history. At times I feel reincarnated from that era, but however I am a Baby Boomer so that possibility seems highly unlikely. My Dad started me on this stuff, he served under General Patton in Africa during WWII and told me plenty of stories when I was a wee one.

I have enjoyed reading about WWII and watching movies and historical programs regarding the subject. Just this morning I received a view notice from Turner Movie Classics on a film I haven’t seen in years. Here are a few of my favorite movies and if you like, go ahead and send me your favorites.

Gung Ho – I don’t mean the one with Michael Keaton and the cars.
Guadalcanal Diary
Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo
Destination Tokyo
Air Force
Those are just a few of my favorites so add yours on, let’s get a list going. For you readers out there here are two good sites, one is on the German U-Boats and the other the Imperial Japanese Navy, loads of information and pictures to boot. Good Reading for hours.

A GANDER GETTER

Hello Guys and Dolls:

Read an interesting news article this afternoon. The subject was the “Nation’s Cushiest Prisons.” Here is a list of the few mentioned:

Federal Correctional Complex at Butner, NC – Soon to be the home of Bernie Madoff. It is home to the largest prison system’s hospitals. Down point, inmates won’t receive internet access until July 2010. What will they do?

Federal Prison Camp at Alderson, W. VA – Nestled in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains it was home to Martha Stewart. Nice climate, access to e-mail and inmates have a chance to reduce their sentences via on-site rehab and occupational programs like horticulture and cosmetology.

Federal Prison at Montgomery, AL – Located on Maxwell AFB. E-mail and on-site drug abuse treatment is available. Prisoners can study to be dog trainers or earn a commercial driver’s license. Just right, learn to drive a big rig for your next big heist.

Federal Prison Camp at Yankton, SD – Winters are tough, but the staff is easy. Cons can take classes in accounting, business administration and management. Learn to earn your Bernie Madoff Degree in 4 years.

I know these are medium security joints and prisoners who make a mistake are entitled to a fair shake after they do their time. A lot the guys do go straight after learning a lesson and congratulations to them. I know there are programs made available to the hardcore guys also. They become lawyers or know-it-alls about every subject in the universe while serving life sentences. Whatever happened to the good old days like the Trenton State Prison when I was kid, they made license plates and rubber balls. Point! A young kid, no future pulls off a small scheme gets in for 4 years to a medium security place, becomes a dog trainer, beautician etc. Hard working young man has to pay to go to school. What’s wrong with the picture here? More license plates and rubber balls needed.

Simply the views of Joey Z only.

A QUESTION FOR MY SPEAKIES

Speakies: As readers you probably noticed I have a live traffic feed that shows from what country people are from and also from what city in the good old USA you are from. My question and please answer me on this, "HOW DID YOU FIND MY SITE?" I'm very interested in your response so please take time and comment. I would really appreciate it. Thanks and have a great day.

ROSEMARY IS DOING FINE

I know some of my readers are blog members of my wife's site, just want to let you know, Roe "The Queen's" surgery yesterday turned out fine. She is recovering in ICU and will probably be chatting with you soon. Thank you all for your thoughts.

IT'S WABBIT WEEK

Hello Speakies:

Just wanted to advise you tomorrow we are celebrating the start of Rabbit Week. The celebration starts on July 15 and runs until July 21.

I not sure what one does during Rabbit Week, maybe hug a bunny, do the bunny hop, search candy stores for one of those chocolate Easter bunnies, put on a bunny suit and hit town or like Jimmy Stewart, find yourself a rabbit named Harvey and get drunk together. Whatever you do have fun, I know the guy below is always having fun with rabbits.

And just not to be left out in the cold, it is also GUMMI WORM DAY. EVERYBODY EAT A GUMMY WORM. HAVE A GREAT EVENING AND BE CAREFUL.

A BUTCH CASSIDY HE'S NOT

Good Morning Speakies:

Here’s an interesting story out of Daytona Beach, Florida. This guy, I’ll call him (Frankie the Bozo) had no luck trying his hand at being a crook. He went on an unsuccessful crime spree and wound up in jail early Sunday morning. Earlier in the night, prior to his arrest he punched a woman in the face in an attempt to carjack her, but she refused to give up the keys. Way to go Dillinger! He was finally captured trying to rob a store called Citi Trends but fell through the roof of the building. Happy to say Frankie is now sitting in the Volusia County Jail and probably contemplating his future in the crime business.

Have a great day Guys and Dolls.

IT'S ABOUT TIME, IT'S ABOUT SPACE, IT'S ABOUT THE MONEY THEY WASTE

Speakies, I’m not a big fan of NASA and the space program. It will be more than a century before we have any technology to travel in space like the aliens who visit us. All we do right now is launch satellites to tell us if there was water on Mars or Venus has gas. The rest of the missions are sending materials to rebuild the aging space station. NASA is hoping for a new type of shuttle to carry out future moon projects and space exploration. Who knows the starting date for that project.

Now this is what gets me ticked off, NASA will try to launch the shuttle Endeavour to the space station today. This will be the fifth try in the last two weeks. NASA has tried for an early evening launch every time. This is Florida people it rains in the late afternoons and evenings. Every morning the sun is shining, so why don’t you try a launch then? The launch manager is quoted by saying, “It’s just not our day for the weather.” Quit wasting money, our educational and health programs in Florida are suffering due to lack of funding.

Views are strictly the opinion of Joey Z.

MONDAY, JULY 13, 2009

Good Morning Speakies:

Hope ya’ll had a great weekend, had to throw some Southern jibber jab at you guys. I want to thank a poster from Lisbon, Portugal on his or her comments about vacations I posted back in May. Thanks Lisbon and stop back anytime. Well, I did not win the Florida Lottery or the PowerBall this weekend, so I having to work again this week. Today we celebrate the following holidays:
Embrace Your Geekness Day - Bow to all Nerds and watch Revenge of the Nerds Marathons.
Gruntled Workers Day – Not saying a peep on this one.

Was anyone great born this date?, lets see:

1396 – Phillip the Good – Duke of Burgundy – Was the wine named after him?
1886 – Father Edward Flanagan – Organized Boys Town in 1922, believing there was “no such thing as a bad boy.”
1928 – Bob Crane – Hogan Heroes leader
1940 – Patrick Stewart – Make it So Captain of Star Trek the Next Generation
1942 – Harrison Ford – Indiana Jones Fame
1944 – Erno Rubik – Inventor of that pain in the a—cube
1946 – Richard “Cheech” Marin – Up in Smoke

Have a great day and I may be around later, have to check if any crazies are running around.

ANSWERS TO THURSDAY'S TRIVIA

OK GUYS AND DOLLS,

I'm signing off for the weekend and hope you all have a good one. For the Humphrey Bogart movie it was "To Have and Have Not." The bee line was said by Eddie, Bogart's first mate, played by the late great Walter Brennan. For the second question, "What you can see 100 miles away with the naked eye is Lightning."

GOOD AFTERNOON AND HAPPY FRIDAY

HELLO SPEAKIES: Just wanted to stop by and wish you all a Happy Friday and a wish for a great weekend. It's going to be another hot one in Florida with thunderstorms each afternoon and evening. In the upcoming week we will be celebrating the following weekly observances:

Nude Recreation Weekend - Indoor or outdoor facilities rule here.
International Chicken Wing Week- Hit your local pubs order a dozen or so with a couple of cold ones and enjoy.
National Farriers Week - Those footcare professionals who keep your horses nice and healthy.

I will let you know later the trivia answers for yesterday's questions. Seems no one even answered but in your little minds I know you want to know.

Thursday, July 9, 2009

CALENDAR AND TRIVIA

Good Day Speakies:

Hope you all are feeling perky and your day is going great. Not much happening on the crazies’ scene. Today we celebrate two holidays

Martyrdom of the Bab (A Religious Holiday of Persian Origin).
National Sugar Cookie Day – Let those kiddies have one.

Tomorrow we celebrate an important holiday, so I’m warning you early because July 10 we celebrate, “DON’T STEP ON A BEE DAY.” Did you ever step on a dead bee? That line came from a great Humphrey Bogart movie, let me know what movie and who said it. I WANT SOME RESPONSES TO THIS SO IF YOU READ THIS BLOG ANSWER EVEN IF IT’S WRONG.

Here’s another question for you to answer, “What can be seen up to 100 miles away with the naked eye?” Answer tomorrow.

Have a great evening, enjoy the ones you are with and be careful out there.

FLORIDA'S CRAZY OF THE DAY

HELLO SPEAKIES: Here's a news story out of Flagler County, FL - County Sheriff's deputies, along with investigators from the Department of Health arrested a man for running an illegal, home based silicone injection operation. This DINK was charged with practicing medicine without a license and unlicensed practice of a health care profession. No bond for this bozo.

He was offering injections ranging from $400 to $600 per session out of his bedroom. In 2003, Dr. Silicone and another butt head went to trial for a woman who received injections to enlarge her hips, she died when her lungs filled with silicone. Not only is this guy crazy he's a danger to society. Now as far as the patients who saw him for the injection treatments, you are not wrapped to tight either. Here is a picture of Dr. Silicone - Would You Get Injections from this Guy.

Good Day Guys and Dolls:

Let’s have a little history lesson today, but first I have to tell you about a new website I found today, it’s called Ehow You want to know how to do something this one is for you. I will attach a direct link at the bottom. Now it’s time for Speakie History 101:

Brought into the World Today:
1838 – Count Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin – The Big Dirigible Guy
1900 – George Antheil (Trenton, NJ) – Composer
1914 – Billy Eckstine – Jazz Singer
1918 – Craig Stevens – Actor – Peter Gunn
1918 – Nelson Mandela – Political Activist
1931 – Jerry Vale – Singer (Arriverderci Roma)
1933 – Marty Feldman – Igor with the moving hump
1951 – Angelica Huston – Actress
1958 – Kevin Bacon – Actor – “May I have another Sir”

Met the Lord Today (Maybe – Maybe Not):
810 – Pepin – Son of Charlemagne (King of Italy)
1957 – William Cadbury – Chocolate Maker – The Day the Eggs Stopped
1985 – Phil Foster – Actor – Frank DeFazio – Laverne and Shirley fame
1991 – James Franciscus – Actor – Mr. Novak and Planet of the Apes

Things That Happened Today:
1835 – The Liberty Bell cracks again
1977 – Sabra Starr finishes longest recorded Belly Dance (100 Hours) – not much of interest happened from 1835 to 1977. Not much after that either.

Thought for the Day: “Better the shoulder to the wheel than the back to the wall.”
Here is the link for ehow: http://www.ehow.com/

COMMERCIALS I LOVE AND HATE, DO YOU?

OK SPEAKIES: Let’s unite against those forms of advertising we call TV Commercials. I wrote about commercials in my first soon to be published book. Have to admit some are really good and some of the latest I’m seeing are just down right stupid. I’m going to list a few of the new ones good and bad. To make this fun add your comments and send me your favorites and the ones for the toilet bowl. In no particular order of good or bad I present:

On Line Booty Call – I’m sure you have seen this one, here is a guy on his knees proposing to some girl after one date, along comes this guy and kicks this poor sucker sending him 10 feet further down the lawn. He now states he is the president of On Line Booty Call and a member. Now this is the comment that gets me, he says, “Did you know marriage is the leading cause of divorce.” DUH, JUST LIKE YOUR COMMERCIAL.

The $5.00 Lunch with KFC – You’ve seen it, one poor boob is eating a sub, with a bag of chips and a soda, the other 2 guys are eating their $5 KFC grilled chicken dinners with a side order, biscuit and a drink. The commercial would not be bad but when the 2 guys with the chicken start poking fun of what the other guy paid and got less, this gets me. If I were the other guy, I would take my drink and pour it on both those bozo’s.

One commercial that really touches the heart is the one of all the pets at the SPCA and their plea for help. Brings tears to your eyes to see those dogs and cats.

OK I gave you all a start, lets go, list those commercials you hate or love. Post those comments.

YOU HEARD OF "HERE COME DE JUDGE", WELL,"HERE COME DA DEVIL"

Speakies: Told you I'd find you a crazy today, well here's the story from Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Authorities said a homeless man claimed to be the devil and attacked another man outside a local convenience store. The victim told police that a man approached him early Monday morning and began speaking with him. After a few minutes the man shouted, " I am the devil, and I am going to kill you." The devil man jammed his thumbs into the man's eyes, which caused them to bleed. The victim hit our devil man who later was found by the local police and charged with battery.

Lessons to be learned:
Never go to a convenience store that early in the morning.
If approached by anyone looking half crazy, DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE DEVIL.

JERSEY PIZZA LOVERS

HEY GUYS AND DOLLS: Yesterday Roe took me to Orlando for a doctor's appointment and as usual came the question, "Where do you want to do lunch?" Sometimes we can never pick a place, so I said, " 2 Slices of Pie and a drink." We took a ride down Dr. Phillips Blvd. in Orlando to a place we visited once. Upon arriving we noticed a name change and the first question arose, "Should we or not?" Take overs sometimes are questionable but we gave it a try. We ordered 2 slices of pie with pepperoni each and 2 root beers. Out came the slices, now for the truth. Picked up the first slice gave it a fold, heard that crack, oil started to drip, the first bite GREAT. Just the right texture, not too much cheese and more sauce than you would receive in any other pizza joint. We have a winner. For all my Jersey and Philly readers, it reminded us of the pies on the boardwalk at Seaside Heights. If it had more sauce the taste would almost be like a DeLorenzo's. I said almost no one could compare to the original.

We complimented the pizza man, find out he's from Jersey relocated here long ago. The place may be a chain as I looked for it on the net today. When visiting down here or if you are a local, try this place and here is the info:

Here is their local address:

HAPPY 4TH TO ALL MY SPEAKIES

Hey Guys and Dolls: Wishing you all a Happy and Safe 4th of July. Enjoy the burgers, dogs, steaks or whatever you put on the grill. If you drink do it wisely and be careful out there. I'm starting my holiday in about 1 hour. HAVE FUN.

THIS ONE IS FOR MACK, JEFF AND JOE

Mack: First of all I tried sending this to your e-mail but I keep getting undeliverable address. This is an interesting article I found regarding South Trenton and the Burg's history. You may have seen this, I'm not sure, but enjoy. You too Jeff and Joey. I also sent this to Tom Glover, Sax and Noel for their reading enjoyment. Have a great 4th of July guys.

THIS ONE REALLY GETS MY GANDER

Speakies: Here is a sad story out of Central Florida this morning. A 2-year old little girl was smothered to death in her crib by an 8 foot Burmese python. The python was a pet kept by the live-in boyfriend. Here’s the scary part, this dumb ass (pardon my French) had no permit for the animal and could face charges including child endangerment. This knucklehead secured the python in a cage with a quilt and rope only. The python had escaped out of that cage earlier that evening and he still used the same equipment to secure it again.

The boyfriend also has a criminal history dating back 12 years for battery, criminal mischief and drug charges. The mother had a beautiful little girl and chose this idiot as a boyfriend, she should be charged too. Maybe we should make it a law to take an intelligence test before anyone plans to have children. If you fail, you are sterilized, no kids for you, end of story.

Child neglect in Florida is rampant; everyday in the news there is a story somewhere. Round up these parents neutralize them and place the children in the homes of people who are loving and caring. These children will have a chance to grow and gain an understanding of what love really is. We can only hope they grow up and make the world filled with more love and concern for the future and the little ones they bring into it.

Strictly the opinion of Joey Z’s Speakeasy.

MOVIE MUSIC FANS

Hello Speakies: Roe loved the Japanese music from the Bond film, "You Only Live Twice". The composer was John Barry. If you go to Playlist.com and type in John Barry, most of the Bond themes along with other movie themes will appear. Listen, choose or even make a playlist for your listening pleasure or blog. I will list it here to make it easier for all my Speakies.
